10.10 Ubuntu Beta released

The latest version of Ubuntu has been released as a beta version. This brings Ubuntu up to version 10.10. Ubuntu 10.10 is due to be officially released, out of beta sometime in October but, if you can’t wait until then, you can download the beta version here. As it is a beta though, it’s recommended not to use it on your main computer, or at least, not as your main OS. It’s noted that there are still some bugs which need to be worked out and you can check the release notes for more information.

In the update, the latest KDE desktop software is included with the Kubuntu version. The netbook and desktop interfaces have also been merged. The Desktop Edition includes newer versions of GNOME, Gwibber Twitter client and Evolution email client. You will also be able to keep track of what you’ve installed or upgraded, as well as what you’ve removed. This is included in the Ubuntu Software center. Two sections have also been added, a “what’s new” and featured” area. The Netbook Edition also as a new Unity interface.
