If you’re looking for ways to ‘trick out’ your netbook then GigaOM have posted up a great list of free ways to do just that.

There are some obvious candidates on the list including OpenOffice which as a free application, is one of the most powerful office apps out there and is a must for anyone that needs office software on a budget. PortableApps and Google Chrome also get a mention in the list along with online hosted apps such as Zoho, Google Apps and Ulteo.

As netbooks become increasingly popular, it’s good to see a list of ways to maximize their use and capabilities and as I always say – free is good!

BTW, I run the portable apps from a ThumbDrive (or SD card) and that way it won’t take away from any space that Window$ XP needs to run ;-)
