What if your Asus Eee PC runs on an Intel Pentium M Processor instead of the preloaded Celeron CPU? And what more if you could upgrade the Asus Eee PC’s RAM into a full 2GB? Then you’d have an ultraportable machine that can run as fast as other bigger laptops out in the market today.
Actually that was what a modder called guryhwa did with his Asus Eee PC. Not satisfied with what the standard package has to offer, guryhwa ripped off the Celeron processor from his Asus Eee and replaced it with a faster 1.2 GHz Pentium M processor. He also upgraded his Asus memory into a full 2GB RAM.
We wonder what he is going to do with his Asus Eee PC next. That’s one reason why the Asus Eee PC is getting popular today. Aside from being an affordable notebook package, the Asus Eee PC is very easy to hack and modify.

Wow! I think I would do the same if I have one. Celeron is just to slow for a notebook computer. I had some bad experiences with the processor. I think Asus installed Celeron just to make it cheaper but I do believe it’s capable of handling higher than that.
[...] Asus Eee PC modded to run on Pentium M processor [...]
I was left out in the cold after buying a EeePC 900 in May when it was replaced by
the 901. I am confused by the various comments on a processor upgrade. The
mother board can be clocked to 1.6 Mz so what is required to ramp up the clock
speed for a processor upgrade. Does this require a mod to the mother board or will
the early bios do the trick. I hope somebody here can shed some light on it. Clearly
there is no support from Asus in this matter. Another issue is the heat. Will this be a
significant factor on such a upgrade.
Any way I leave it here. Yours sharpy.
