If you would recall, when we covered the change in the name of 3K’s ultra portable PC from Longitude Mini to Razorbook 400, we mentioned that it would retail for $399. But with the official announcement 3K has also decided to lower the market price of the Razorbook 400 to $299. Don’t worry none of the features that we mentioned were taken down by 3K. The only reason that we can think of for the change in price is possibly to match the decreasing price of the Eee PC 701. That way, the Razorbook could ably compete with the Eee PC.

To refresh your memory, here’s a recap of the major features of the Razorbook 400:

  • 7″ WVGA LCD Display (800×400)
  • 400 MHz 32-Bit Single Core Mobile Processor
  • 512 DDR2 Memory
  • 4GB Flash Drive
  • Full Flash Menu
  • Linux OS
  • WLAN
  • 3 USB ports
  • Internal Full-Size Notebook Keyboard

In addition, the Razorbook brags of a fast less than 8 seconds boot-up time, fan-less energy-saving processor and completely quite operation with low energy consumption. The Razorbook 400 would also feature a Trojan-free and virus-free OS that makes it perfect for secure internet applications, like online banking.

So, with the reduction in its price, do you think the Razorbook 400 stand a chance against the Eee PC 701 even now that it’s sale must be going down due to the release of the Eee PC 900 and the anticipation over the Eee PC 901 and even the Ebox?
