A few Hong Kong netbooks from CES

Here’s something a bit different. Shenzhen Firstview Electronics is a company based in Hong Kong which had a few ARM-based netbooks to show during CES last week.

One of these is the PC810T with the following specs:

  • 10.1″ 1024 x 600 screen
  • 800 MHz ARM11 processor
  • 512MB RAM
  • Linux OS / Windows CE
  • 2GB flash drive
  • 802.11b/g WiFi
  • 2 x USB ports
  • VGA and HDMI out
  • SIM slot for WCDMA support

The support for WCDMA is really nice even with the very spartan set of specs it has.

There’s also the PC-701 that shares its model number with the original Eee PC. I’ve seen one of these at a local electronic market but didn’t get to test it. It looked pretty slim and small to me though, something good as a mini-planner, given the specs.

  • 7″ 800 x 480 screen
  • 336 MHz XBurst processor
  • 128MB RAM
  • Linux OS / Windows CE
  • 16GB NAND flash
  • 802.11b/g
  • 2 x USB ports

You can see more of their devices at their site including a few netbooks. While the processors are a bit different from the other netbooks, the designs are very familiar. If you’re interested, you’ll have to contact the company since they might not be currently selling to US customers yet.
