Acer Aims to Ship up to 8,000 Aspire Ones Monthly
Acer Taiwant Presiden Scott Lin is confident that the netbook market will continue to grow in 2009 considering that it has considerably grown to 14 million units in 2008. Mr. Lin predicts that the shipment scale for netbooks will reach 25-30 million units this year, and 40-45 million units in 2010.
With the positive outlook that netbooks has for this year, Acer is looking at shipping around 7,000-8,000 Aspire One’s per month, in the Taiwan market alone. Mr. Lin is confident that this is most likely to be achieved considering that the company has already shipped its 10-inch Aspire One. Acer is also not keen on releasing a bigger version of netbook as it has already have a presence in the 12-inch notebook market.
And lastly, Mr. Lin also said that Acer will maintain the availability of the 8.9-inch Aspire One in the netbook market and even plans on adjusting its price and specification in the future.
