Acer Announces the 6-Inch LumiRead eBook Reader

Acer wants to get ahead of the ebook game, well at least ahead of its fiercest rival Asus by unveiling  its own ebook reader – the Acer LumiRead, in China.  The Acer LumiRead is a 6-inch ebook reader which uses E-ink technology for its display. Very much like how Amazon is doing it for its Kindle ebook reader.

Aside from this the Acer LumiRead ebook reader also features 2GB flash memory, Wi-Fi, 3G, QWERTY keyboard and a scanner that lets you scan book’s ISBN to search for its availability online. The ebook reader supports various ebook formats too.

For content source, Acer has signed deal with Barnes and Noble and German ebook distributor Libri.de to ensure that buyers of the Acer LumiRead would immediately have an option to purchase ebooks for their Lumiread.

Release date and pricing information for the LumiRead is not yet available.
