Acer Makes the 10-inch Aspire One Official

Alright, time to end those speculations, rumors and leaked photos, well not necessarily the last one though. Acer Aspire UK has just officially announced the 10-inch iteration of the Eee PC’s closest rival to date in terms of sales.

And like what some rumors have said, the 10-inch Acer Aspire One will have all the connectivity features that we are all looking  for in a netbook that is supposed to make us connected online at all times. These include, Bluetooth, 3G, Wi-Fi and optional specification for Wi-Max support.

This 10-inch Aspire One boasts of a 6-cell Li-ion battery pack, which according to Acer can give out 7 hours of battery life.

Design-wise, we would have four options – white, blue, red, and black in a slim and streamlined form factor. Funny thing is, in the official announcement Acer UK forgot to mention about the product branding of the new Acer netbook, and could not even provide a decent image, even at least of its protype.

So, you just have to use your imagination in trying to figure out how the new netbook looks like based on the following description by Acer.

Stylish details such as the aerodynamic shaped metallic hinge with a colored accent and the fancy bright color rim that encircles the mirror plate power button immediately draw attention. The brushed-metal palm rest offers a refined look while avoiding unaesthetic fingerprints.

Now, here are the technical specs of the 10-inch Aspire One:

  • Intel Atom processor
  • Intel 945GSE Express Chipset/Mobile Intel 82801GBM Chipset
  • up to 2GB RAM
  • 160GB HDD
  • multi-in-one card reader
  • Windows XP Home
