So as to appease Linux fans who are awaiting the release of the 10-inch Aspire One D150, Acer promises to release a Linux version soon after releasing the D150’s Windows XP version. Speaking to an Acer spokesperson, a ZDNET representative was informed that there will be a Linux-powered Acer Aspire One D150 coming up shortly after the Windows XP version is released.
And when asked what Linux distribution said Aspire One D150 would have, the representative said that it will be the Linpus distro. Aside fromt the Linus powered version of the said netbook, it will also have the option for a solid-state drive or an HDD for storage.
For those who may have noticed the announcement of the specs of the Aspire One D150 netbook, be reminded that in contrast to the original Aspire One, the D150 will no longer have a second SD card slot due to increase in storage size, the Acer representative said.
There you go Linux fanboys. Hold off your excitement for the 10-inch Aspire One first and wait a little while for the Linux version. It might be cheaper than the version that will be released in February with a price of £299.

I hope Linux comes pre-installed, because then you know that everything works. God help you if something doesn’t work out of the box, especially wifi.
The D150 in Windows trim runs Fedora 10 fine out of the box. The wifi is supported. You don’t need to wait for the ‘linux’ model. I am having a little problem with the internal mic but that’s not a deal killer right now.
Now getting Mac OS X to completely install and function. That’s a real treat.
