Eventhough the new 8.9-inch Asus Eee PC hasn’t been released yet, it already has a direct competitor - an Acer low-cost PC which measure the same 8.9-inch. Making matters worst for the Asus Eee PC is the fact that Acer will releasing its own affordable notebook at a Free On Board price of around $250-$300. The price is $50 lower than the FOB of the soon to be released Asus Eee PC 8.9-inch. Acer’s low-cost notebook will have a market Average Selling Price of $350-400, while the Asus Eee PC’s ASP is set at around $400-500.

Asus Eee PC 8.9-inch advantage? It will be releasing the new Eee PC model a little earlier in April. While Acer will release its new notebook model sometime in May.
