AMD Yukon now starring in Shenzhen netbooks

There have been a host of Intel Atom netbooks coming from that odd little place called Shenzhen, China. Now, it seems an enterprising manufacturer of shanzhai machines has come to try out AMD’s own mobile processor platform.

Yu Plastic Technology has integrated AMD Yukon CPUs into their line up coupled with ATI Radeon X1270 graphics for 1080p support. Coupled with the 13.3″ screen, this should be an excellent choice for watching video.

  • 13.3″ 1366 x 768 LCD
  • AMD Yukon with ATI Radeon X1270 graphics
  • 2GB RAM
  • up to 500GB HDD
  • WiFi-ready
  • HDMI out, LAN, VGA
  • Weight: 1.77kg

The price is estimated to be at least US$400 though I doubt it if it will be available in places other than China. AMD is often the choice of some manufacturers if they want to have a higher spec’d but cheaper priced machines. While it’s not as wildly popular as Intel’s processors, it certainly has its place in the market.
