Apple patent stylus

Today a patent has been published by the US Patent and Trademark office which gives details of a stylus designed by Apple. The aptly named iPen has at least two prototypes in the works, with two different technologies built in side of them. One of the iPen prototypes is said to feature an optical sensor at the tip to track movement on the touch screen. The other iPen prototype features more technology, such as a haptic actuator, as well as a wireless receiver and transmitter and again a sensor of some sort. It pretty much does the same thing as the optical sensor, by determining the iPen’s movement in relation to the display which should mean an extremely precise stylus.

Whether or not we will actually see the iPen from Apple will remain to be seen for now as a lot of patents that go through the US Patent and Trademark Office never make it into the market.
