Apple Selling Low-Cost 13-inch MacBook Air

For those still not over the loss of the 13-inch white MacBook as a low cost, full-sized  educational, Apple has started offering a new SKU of the 13-inch MacBook Air.

The 13-inch Mac Air still runs on the same 1.6GHz Core i5 processor. This Intel chip is backed by 2GB of RAM as well as 64GB of flash memory that the low-end 11-inch MacBook Air. However,  this includes the larger and higher-resolution display.

Unfortunately, this doesn’t seem to be possible for a single user to get their hands on one of these machines, but they can only be purchased in bulk quantity by educational institution buyers. For qualified buyers, packs of five are available starting at $4,995.

Any college student looking for an inexpensive Mac, the cheapest option is still the 11-inch Air. Either way, it should still work for any student who wants to have means to enhance their studies, and a little bit of social networking.
