Apple’s New 5-Inch Device on Retina Display in the Works?

Apple fans might want to believe the rumor that Apple is developing a new product which will be released in 2013. This very short report was published in a Japanese Blog Macotakara.

The device will have a 5-inch display that has Retina quality. Retina display is the technology wherein the pixel density of the device is much higher that your eye won’t be able to see the individual pixels. In layman’s terms, it’s more crisp and sharper. The source said that the LCD resolution will be 1600 x 960 or 1280 x 960 pixels.

The rumor that Apple has been developing a mini iPad has been going around for some time now. This then says that this iPad mini will have the same resolution as with iPad and iPad 2. Although the rumored mini iPad may be smaller, they said that it will still meet the standard set by Apple. Hence, existing apps will still function flawlessly in the new device.

However, developers might find it complicated to have a device with 5-inch panel display and 1600 x 960p resolution. The scaling will be harder, thus, the present apps won’t be fitted for iPad mini’s high-res display.
