The rumor about Nokia’s plan of releasing a netbook started during the Mobile World Congress. But it seems that it is no longer a rumor, as Digitimes reported that the company is currently negotiating with some Taiwan manufacturers.
According to Digitimes, among those Taiwan makers in talks with Nokia are Compal Electronics and Foxconn Electronics.
No further information about the Nokia netbook are available yet. Nokia is still contemplating whether to use the standard Intel Atom processor or Qualcomm’s Snapdragon platform.
With Nokia, a major mobile phone company getting into the netbook market, and Google Android rumored to be released for netbooks, one thing looks certainly clear – netbooks are here to stay, whether Psion likes it or not.
