What Laptop is reporting that Asus has officially announced the release of the Eee PC 904 in the next two weeks. According the What Laptop, the Eee PC 904 will have a full-sized keyboard (as reported in the past couple of days), and will have an SRP of around $582 when it comes out in the UK market mid-July.
Of course, we already know that the Eee PC 904 will have the 8.9-inch display of the Eee PC 900 series. But what we don’t know so far is that the Eee PC 904 will not come with an Atom processor but will instead be pre-loaded with 900MHz Celeron M used in the 900. If you would remember the Eee PC 901 already comes with the Atom processor and so we were expecting the the Eee PC 904 should also have the same processor.
In addition, the Eee PC 904 would also come with 1024MB RAM, 80GB HD and Windows XP.
Whatever the reason of Asustek in releasing the Eee PC 904 without the Atom processor is a mystery. Could be lack of Atom supply or could be part of another marketing strategy.
If there’s one positive effect that the release of the Eee PC 904 gives us consumers is the fact that Asus was prompted to re-align the price of the Eec PC 901 with the Eee PC 904. It was reported that the Eee PC 901’s price will be lowered to around $592 from the previous $651.
So, what would you rather buy? The Eee PC 901 with the smaller keyboard but with more powerful processor or the Eee PC 904 with a larger keyboard but with a less powerful processor?
