Asus, Acer Plan to Release New “Luxury” Netbooks

If this is any indication that the netbook market is ain’t dead yet, two of the major netbook manufacturers are reportedly planning to release some more new netbook models in the fourth quarter. Digitimes is reporting that Acer and Asustek Computers are both planning to release netbooks in their “luxury notebook series.”

Meaning, this will be under the Ferrari notebook series for Acer and a new product series for Asus. To be specific the Acer “luxury” netbook will have an 11.6-inch display and will be running on AMD Fusion processor. Acer’s new netbook will be sporting the Ferrari product name.

As for Asus, the new netbook will be called the Eee PC VX6 and will be running on Intel dual-core Atom CPU and NVIDIA Ion 2 graphics. It will most likely sell for $699. No price point yet for Acer’s new Ferrari netbook though.

Are we excited about these new netbooks or what?

To me, lamborghini doesn't necessarily exude luxury. It tends to represent the bastard brother of Ferrari who doesn't care what you think. It's not luxurious, just expensive. I wish Asus would be able to chip away at apple's market here but the new 11″ macbook air is unbelievable and rich people quite simply do not care if the product is $500 compared to $1500.
