Asus Eee Keyboard shipping in April

Ah, previously it was the Apple tablet which was the mythical fantasy gadget lusted by all but nowhere to be found. With the iPad coming to life, the next fabled gadget in everyone’s minds is the Eee Keyboard from Asus. There’s been lots of press on it and it’s even showed up in a few trade shows. Sadly, no word has even been confirmed by the manufacturer as to when it will be available.

So I’m not surprised at all that Asus has yet again pushed back the release of the Eee Keyboard back to April from the previous February launch (which we already missed of course). Jonney Shih, Asus CEO, said that the product is still being polished up and I don’t blame him. Stick in a computer in something you’ll be banging on everyday would really need to have excellent specifications. Couple that with a touchscreen integrated and you have a pretty complex device in your hands.

One thing I can say though, the mock up above looks pretty sweet with a comfy keyboard and an iPhonesque touchscreen that doubles as a trackpad and a monitor when needed.
