After the frenzy created by the release of the Eee PC 901, the next Eee PC iteration that is starting to create a stir among netbook fans is the release of the Eee PC 1000. Current.com.au is reporting that JB Hi-Fi, on one of Australia’s leading retail store, JB Hi-Fi already has it stock. Some folks at the EeeUser Forum has attested to this, with one forum member reporting that he has his Eee PC 1000 already and that JB Hi-Fi still has 10 units of it.
JB Hi-Fi got their units way ahead of the other retailers, apparently because of their good relations with the Taiwanese Asus Company. They are selling the Eee PC 1000 for $698. And its pre-loaded with Intel ATOM CPU, 1GB RAM, 80GB HD, WI-FI, 1.3 webcam and 4.5 hours of battery time.

I’m holding mine right now
That’s false and misleading advertising.
It is not the Eee PC 1000, but the 1000H which is available in Australia.
From what I can gather asus will NEVER release the Linux versions of 90X, or 1000 in Australia. Bastards!
Picked up a 1000H at JB (Brisbane) today 26/7/08 for $633
Please send specification for Eee PC1000 Thank
