  1. When will the Linux version of this iteration be out? I need it for my parents. I like the better graphics, but prefer an SSD and linux so they don’t scew it up like every windows install they touch>.> I was just about to buy an 1000HA before I heard of this, now I’m waiting in limbo.

  2. I too am very curious about a Linux version. It hurts to be paying MS for a license for an OS that I don’t want.

Drop the Windows licence, and drop the price correspondingly, and I’m in.

  3. [...] those who can’t wait for Amazon stock of the Eee PC 1000HE to arrive, ZipZoomFly could be your best alternative. The online store now have the 1000HE on stock [...]

  4. Zipzoomfly is out of stock as of today.

  5. u can pre-order it for 364.99 on buy(dot)com…..it is with free shipping, search for promotional code, buy(dot)com, $10 off on 374.99

  6. yeah you are right jholman, drop stupid windows, give us something more useful : Linux. And i m in too :)

  7. I like Linux as much as the next guy (and I run it on most of my systems), but I have to admit that it really doesn’t make much sense for the OEMs to sell it pre-installed — the vast majority of people *need* Windows for one reason or another. As for the Microsoft tax, it isn’t as much as you might think. OEMs get Windows XP pretty cheap these days.

I’m not going to let Windows stop me from snagging one of these. I can handle a Linux install on my own!

  8. Seems nice. I want to use it for internet and light multimedia stuff, and ubuntu do that for me perfectly.

I like the specs, but honestly I’m not willing to pay ~30£ I shouldn’t pay. It feels like I am robbed or forced to pay for something I DON’T want.

If no linux ver. will be available, it will be either earlier eee models or the new dell mini for me. Hopefully, asus will give us some choice.
