Asus Eee PC 1008HA Up for Pre-Order in the UK, US Release Next?

Still remember the ultra-thin Eee PC 1008HA which hit the FCC site not so long ago? Well, while U.S. folks are eagerly awaiting further details of this new Asus netbook, our friends in the U.K. maybe well on their way to getting their 1008HA pretty soon. Well, that is if they even bother to pre-order the said netbook at Amazon UK or get it direct from some UK stores which have started displaying the 1008HA.
Amazon UK has put a £379.50 price tag on the Eee PC 10008HA while LaptopsDirect has it for £399.97. Amazon UK only has the Seashell White colored 10008HA while LaptopsDirect has some other color variants, which could probably explain the different in their prices.
In a related news, Liliputing has stumbled upon some information on 1008HA drivers which which showed up at the Asus Support site (it looks like Asus may have pulled down the page right now). So, if there’s any indication of this, the Eee PC 1008HA maybe hitting the U.S. streets pretty soon.
As a review, the Eee PC 1008 HA has the following specs:

- 160GB HDD
- Windows XP Home

My wife bought this after we did lots of research. The ASUS seemed to have everything she wanted; tipping points in its favor were the new Atom processor, the 160G hard drive,installed Windows XP, 92% keyboard and the promise of 8-9 hours of battery life. She bought it in preparation for our upcoming trip to Europe. We didn’t want to lug around a laptop. This little puppy fits inside her purse and weighs a tad over 2 lbs.
After playing with it for a few weeks, and taking it on a trip to Canada, she could not be happier. Everone who sees it wants one. She liked the blue color, so that’s what she got. It works straight out of the box and has behaved flawlessly.
