Asus Eee PC 900 coming to the U.S. on May 12, SRP $549

For our friends in the U.S. who have been eagerly anticipating the release of the Asus Eee PC 900, you have more reason to rejoice. Crave has the scoop and the confirmation from their Asus contacts. Mark the date, May 12, 2008. The Asus Eee PC 900 is finally US bound. And the most important part of all, how much will it cost? A whooping $549!

That price may be a lot as compared to the Eee PC 701 but hey, you’ll get stuff such as 1GB RAM, 1024×600 screen resolution, and either a 12Gb or 20GB SSD, plus more.

The question now is, has the Eee PC established enough loyal American users who have purchased and loved the Eee PC 701 to make them buy the Eee PC 900 as well? That is despite the price increase? That would be interesting to find out.

Seems to high if they want to continue to raise the price as they improve the product….

I will buy it at that price, once they get the Intel Atom processor in it. I want the battery life extended for as long as possible.

I work in the buying department for Costco.com, and we’ve only got 78 units of the $549 unit left.
