The release of the Asus Eee PC 900A is now official.
It is essentially identical to the Eee PC 900 but with one big difference. The Asus Eee PC 900A will have an Intel Atom CPU. The other difference is that it will also be the first Eee PC to come in purple. If purple isn’t your color you also have the option of white or black.
As of yet there is no information on the price or when it will become available. ComTech however, a German retailer, has the Eee PC up for preorder for the price of 299 Euros which converts to just under $450 according to XE.com.
Inside of the Eee PC 900A, you’ll find the Intel Atom N270 CPU, an 8GB or 16GB SSD with 1GB RAM all in a netbook that weighs in at 0.99kg and measures 22.5cm(W) x 17.0cm(D) x 2-3.38cm(H). Enough space for a 8.9 inch screen, WLAN, 3 USB ports, SD card slot and a 0.3 megapixel webcam.

I’m starting to get confused with all these model variations….
I think a lot of us are. However, it is probably only affecting those of us who are watching this market carefully. Your average consumer doesn’t pay close enough attention. All they know is that when they go to $BIGBOXRETAILER to buy a laptop, and they see these things, they may see one model from each manufacturer, and a half-dozen from ASUS. I think in the consumers eyes that looks very appealing.

I completely agree with X. I think the consumer will find options to fit budget/preference to be an advantage.

So this model does have a web cam – the directions included with it are not very detailed? I cannot tell whether there is a cam or not, and camera did not come with specifications.
