Asus expects notebooks and Eee PC shipments to drop

Asus has forecasted a drop in shipments this quarter. The Taiwanese manufacturer expects PC notebook and Eee netbook deliveries to be lower by 10 and 30 percent respectively versus last quarter, Q4 2009. This isn’t that much surprising given that the holiday rush often is the peak sales quarter every year.

Motherboard shipments will be up by as much as 10 percent though, Asus predicts, and overall business and market share will increase. Eee PC shipments were 1.8 million units last year, quite impressive. I’m betting they are hoping to gain some business with the upcoming Eee Pad, Eee Reader and Eee Keyboard.
