Here you go folks, Asus officially announcing what we reported a couple of days ago about the Eee PC 1004DN. Yup, the first Eee PC, or better yet the first netbook with an Optical Drive.

Allow us to get into the details of these power-packed Eee PCs please. First we have it’s design which has a high-gloss UV LCD cover made of cutting-edge allows, lightweight frame, high-gloss bezel frames, aluminum plam rest and electroplated frame on the keyboard’s border. Certainly those words describes an elegant Eee PC, right?

Next, of course is the Super-Multi optical disc drive (ODD) which can read and write data to DVD or CD media. Add an Express Card expansion slot which is compatible with USB 2.0 and PCI Express and you have a versatile netbook indeed.

What else does the Eee PC 1004DN has in store for us? A multi-touch touchpad, a digital array microphone, 1.3 megapixel webcam, software suite featuring EzMessenger for synchronizing data and Eee Splendid for visualization and a font resizer for viewing documents more conveniently.

Finally we have an fingerprint log-on facility through Asus Data Security System which can also be used for encrypting file folders.

Lest we forget, this netbook baby can max out up to 5.9 hours of good usage.

And if you’re still not convince that the Eee PC 1004DN would be the next hottest Eee PC, how about if we give you the full specs:

Sadly at that price I can get a nice notebook/laptop with a more powerful cpu and graphics, more memory, etc.

    so great, very good

I agree with TonyJ. At this price, I don’t see the point unless you need to own the latest and greatest. In terms of bang for your buck, this is a flop.

i ve been seeing laptops, havent seen such a nasty deal. are you kidding 550$s, i could get a far better one
    more HD
    Better webcam
    better Processor,
    more resolution

i could probably pay another 30$ for DVD and another 30 for the technology. totaling to 400 probably.

For the 10 inch size, this IS a great deal. This is the first 10 inch model to have a dvd multi drive, and your cheap laptop probably doesn’t have this kind of battery life either! Today it’s all about being ultraportable. If I want to do high-tech fancy stuff, I can do that at home on my super-powered desktop computer with 22 inch monitor, thank you.
