Asus has just posted some Linux source code for use with its first seashell netbook that was recently released – the Eee PC 1008HA. In case you forgot already, the Eee PC 1008HA was the first Eee PC that came out from the Seashell series. Back then it was only available with a Windows XP OS and many Linux felt dismay when Asus didn’t release a model with Linux OS.

But with this Linux source code, it seems that Asus may be prepping a new version of the Eee PC 1008HA with the Linux OS, perhaps a Moblin variant.  The file which was spotted by Brad of Liliputing contains 5 different downloads with sizes that range from 299MB to 488MB.

But since the files are just source code, it is not clear yet whether you can use the files to compile a Linux installer that will run on the current crop of Eee PC 1008Ha.
