Asus Prepares Padfone 2 Launch In Taiwan And Italy

The first Asus Padfone was not exactly a big hit. The Padfone, which is a smartphone that can turn into a desktop computer, a tablet, or a notebook through a docking system, offered a lot of promise, but has not delivered the success that Asus wanted.
It does not help, as well, that the device is still unavailable in the United States market. Not to be dissuaded, Asus is preparing to launch the successor to the Padfone, the Padfone 2.
The Taiwanese company which is also behind Google’s Nexus 7 tablet, has sent out invitations for events in its home country and Italy this coming October 16th to showcase the Padfone 2.
Benchmark results for the device surfaced recently, which show that Asus indeed is readying the device. According to the benchmark results, the Padfone 2 is packed with a display with a resolution of 1196 x 720 pixels or more likely, 1280 x 720 pixels.
Part of its hardware is a 1.5 GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor. All things considered, however, benchmark results like these should be taken with a grain of salt. For one thing, they could be based on a pre-release prototype, or worse, could be altogether fake.
The October 16 event, however, should reveal more about the upcoming device.
