Part of the leaked Eee PC roadmap that we’ve shown recently was some Eee PC 700-series units which interestingly were not yet available. So, this only means to say that Asus has not given up on its first Eee PC machine. Eeenews.de got some exclusive photos of the new Eee PC 701SD.

So, what do we know about the Eee PC701SD? It looks like the Eee PC 701SD will sport the same chassis as the Eee PC901 minus the rounded edges. The Eee logo will be on the top right corner, same keyboard, touchpad separated the right and left click button, and best of all the Eee PC701SD will most likely have a 30GB HDD despite the SD in its model number.

And of course, it will most probably come with the Intel Atom processor, otherwise, what is the point of upgrading the Eee PC 701 if it will still sport the same processor, right?

Price? Well, given that it will have a HD instead of the SSD, we’re looking at a lower price tag for the Eee PC 701SD than the original units.

If it has the same chassis as the 901 will it be the same in design or the same in size, or both? Surely they’re not going to make it larger; that doesn’t make sense as the 900 & 901 covers the larger size. The main thing is to improve the touchpad and possibly to make the casing finish more appealing, but they must keep it the same size as the 701.
