ASUS Transformer Prime Gets Added OTA Updates

Users of the ASUS Transformer Prime would be pleased to know that new OTA updates are available for the device.

Several of the components that the updates target are the Transformer Prime’s Wi-Fi software, GPS, and Bluetooth. Among others, this seems to be the company’s answer to the frequent complaint of problems regarding the GPS signal and the device’s aluminum case.

It also appears to solve problems such as random rebooting, crashes when using apps, and screen flickers. Wi-Fi speeds, both for uploads and downloads, are also reportedly better.

For the Wi-Fi software, the update available is 6.1.1.18; for GPS, it is 6.9.13; and for Bluetooth, it is 9.26. As for the build, it is IML74K.US_epad-9.4.2.13-20120203; and lastly, for the Kernel, it is 2.6.39.4-00001-g034d325android@MiuMiu #1.

Those who wish to update their device may go to Settings, then to About Tablet, then to System Firmware Update to check if theirs is already available. Otherwise, they should not worry because as with other OTA updates, users should expect this to come in stages.

Asus seems to be bent on keeping its customers happy with these frequent updates. In January, the company has just released one that updated the version of the operating system Ice Cream Sandwich. It has then been the first Android tablet that upgraded to that version.
