ASUS Unleashes its Ultra Slim U47 Laptop

Asus has come up with a new ultraportable laptop that measures only an inch (25.1 mm) in thickness and weighs 2.9 lbs. (1.32 kg). This Ultrabook, called the U47, however, appears less sleek than models like the Asus UX31 but its portability gives it its edge, even over models like 5.6-pound HP Envy or the 4.4-pound Dell XPS 14z.
The Asus U47 offers an Ivy Bridge Intel Core i5 or i7 processor. It has a storage capacity of up to 1 TB and support for up to 8 GB of memory. Its screen spans 14 inches while the shell measures 13 inches and with display resolution of 1366 by 768 pixels.
As for its graphics, the Asus U47 will have two varieties. One of these, the U47A will come with Intel HD integrated graphics, whereas the U47VC will have an Nvidia dedicated graphics card.
This Ultrabook, which is the next-generation model of the Asus U46, also has a narrow LCD bezel. Its design, however has changed from the previous model as it is now thinner. It is also equipped with a built-in optical drive, and eight hours of battery life.
There is no word as to the Asus U47’s price and official launch date. However, it is expected to be released sometime during the second quarter of 2012.
