Here’s another reason to get as all excited about the upcoming Computex next week. Apparently Asustek gave a hint about the launch of the Eee PC 1000 in their invitation for Computex, aside of course from the already announced launch of the Eee PC 901.

It looks like Asustek is reacting quickly to the upcoming release of the MSI Wind and would want to release a competitor this early. Or perhaps probably, Asustek is just trying to steal the hype away from the MSI Wind as this will also have an effect to the sale of their Eee PC 900 and the Eee PC 901.

So, next week’s Computex is certainly something to look forward to. Will Asustek release the Eee PC 1000 on June 3? That we will have to find out. We must also look into whether is Asustek is considering the effect of the Eee PC 1000 to the performance of its recently released 900. The gap seems to be a bit to narrow. We couldn’t help but wonder whether the desire to beat MSI is worth the risk that Asustek is about to take.

  1. If this is a new release… boo Asus. Give us time to wait for, purchase and enjoy a model before announcing the next. It’s frustrating to know that a product not even released yet is already old model.

As for the Eee 901, is June 3rd still the proposed release date or official announcement date? I ask because I see no mention anywhere of pre-orders and it’s less than a week away.

Then again… if you’re announcing a new-new model that already dates the new model, then why bother.

  2. [...] Asustek will be bringing to next week’s Computex event. Let us see now, first there was the Eee PC 901, then the Eee mini desktop dubbed as the Ebox. Yesterday we learned that Asustek is even releasing [...]

  3. I have an EeePC 701 which I’m going to sell in favor of a machine with a 1024px+ wide screen.

I was *hoping* the black EeePC 900/901 would be it. Too bad I can’t even buy one locally.

By not feeding the supply chain with black 900’s, Asus gives me pause to look at Dell, HP and others.
