Looks like Asustek doesn’t want to just easily give the Eee PC’s stronghold in the mini-pc market. A few hours after HP unexpectedly released a very good rival to the Eee PC - the HP Mini-Note, here comes Asustek announcing that the 9-inch Asus Eee PC will be released in the Taiwan market in the second half of April. Digitimes is reporting that the 9-inch Asus Eee PC will feature Intel’s older-generation dual-core ULV processors since Intel’s Atom processor is not due until May.

Asus promises to use Intel’s Atom processor in the succeeding upgrades of the Asus Eee PCs.

Asus originally planned to release the 9-inch Asus Eee PC in Hong Kong instead of Taiwan, but decided to instead release it in Taiwan in a couple of weeks from now. Thanks to HP’s Mini-Note PC, the waiting time of those anticipating for the release of the Asus 9-inch Eee may soon be over.
