Remember that not-so-goodlooking netbook from Epson which we told you about not so long ago? Well, what do you know, the said Epson netbook is now available in Japan for around $479 (converted from 380 Euro). Nothing much has changed with its looks and form factor though since the last time we saw this Epson netbook.
And as a review, this netbook which is simply called the “Epson C” will have the following specs:
10.2-inch LCD with WSVGA resolution
Atom N270 CPU
1GB RAM
160GB HDD
Intel 945GSE Express Chipset
USB 2.0
WiFi
1.28kg
No words yet on whether this netbook will be available internationally. But considering that Epson has a strong presence in the U.S., it would probably available soon.
Quite honestly, I don’t really get why Dospara, a Japanese company would come out with a new netbook such as the Prime Note Cartina UM, this late in the game. Aside from being a little late in joining the netbook wars, the said netbook will also be available only in Japan - and only 30 units of it will be released for those who might be interested to buy it.
From its looks and specs, the Prime Note Cartina UM Netbook is a feature-rich netbook worthy of getting in line with other netbooks available in the market today. Here are its specs if you are curious to know:
8.9-inch WSVGA LCD
Atom N270 Processor
120GB HDD
1GB of RAM
WiFi
Linux OS
Those are definitely standard features of a netbook right? So, why on earth would a company release only 30 units of such a promising netbook? I guess, we will never find out.
Yes, I would definitely want to try fix out on my 7-inch Eee PC. I’m a heavy PSP gamer (thanks to another gig at BrightHub Console Game Channel) and boy the small screen of PSP can really get into your nerves and eyes especially on long hours of gaming.
So this fix called RemoteJoyLite may actually do the trick. It’s a Windows applications actually which would let you connect your PSP to your Eee PC via USB port. And as soon as you connect it will turn your Eee PC’s screen into a PSP screen, where the PSP becomes your Playstation controller. Sounds fun?
Take a caution though when using this application as it is not an officially sanctioned application by Sony as Brad quickly pointed out.
To find the application, just Google RemoteJoyLite and enjoy gaming!
And if you’re curious on how this application performs. Watch this video.
The first Inspiron Mini 9 we saw back then was a red colored unit. But for no apparent reason what Dell released not so long ago was the black and white Inspiron Mini 9. We never heard of the Red Inspiron Mini 9 since then. Until now, as Engadget reports that the new shiny red Inspiron Mini 9 was spotted to be available now somewhere in Japan, with a bonus Pink model as well.
In addition to these two new punky colors of Dell’s netbook is a Platinum Package Inspiron Mini 9 Platinum Package featuring a 32GB SSD. Said Dell Inspiron Mini 9 with higher SSDs is available for around $565. The only question now is when these two Inspiron Mini 9’s will be available internationally.
Barely four weeks after it was made available on T-Mobile, the Aspire One has already given T-Mobile around 10,000 units sold. T-Mobile is offering the Aspire One for 1 Euro if customers opt to sign a two-year service contract under T-Mobile’s Connect L. This package gives you unlimited data and costs only $50 a month.
Additionally, the Acer Aspire One that was being sold in T-Mobile comes with an integrated 3G card.
TAside from the Acer Aspire, T-Mobile Germany is also offering the new LGX110 netbook which also comes with a 3G camera. The 1$ price with two-year service contract is also valid should you decide to get the LGX110 rather than the Aspire One.
Dell has officially unveiled its Inspiron Mini 12 to the US market. The Inspiron Mini 12 is probably Dell’s best take on the recently announced EEe PC S101. Both sport the same 12-inch screen and both looks sleeker than their smaller counterparts.
The Inspiron Mini 12 will be available in two versions:
One which is priced $549 features a 1.33GHZ Atom processor, 1GB of RAM, 40GB of HDD and Windows Vista Home Basic. The other model is a faster Inspiron Mini 12 because of its 1.6GHZ CPU plus a 60GB HDD and a six-cell battery. If you want to push its specs further, another Inspirong Mini 12 model with an 80GB HDD capacity will also be available.
It may look like the PDAs of the old days but certainly is more powerful. Plus it pretty much has the standard netbook features and specs, so we might as well categorize it as a netbook.
Alright, we’re talking here of the Korean UMID mini netbook, and when we say mini, we mean mini as in smaller than the 7-inch Eee PCs.
Detailed specs include: Atom processor, 1GB of RAM, up to 32GB of SSD storage, wireless broadband capable, digital TV receivers, WiMAX, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, HSDPA, touchscreen display with 1024×600 resolution and is powerful enough to run on XP, Linux and even VISTA.
The only problem with such a small device as this UMID netbook is of course the keyboard. Unless of course you’ve got tiny hands and fingers. No words though on whether this netbook will get out of the Korean market. Pricing is unavailable as well.
Japanese company Green House is releasing two new high-capacity SSDs made specifically for the Eee PC. The new Green House SSDs boasts of a 32GB and 64GB storage capacity. That would give our Eee PC’s a big storage boost enough to run Windows Vista, right? The SSDs are capable of 32MB/s reading speed and 15MB/s writing mode.
Unfortunately, the SSDs are currently available only in Japan. If you have immediate plans of going there and wish to get the SSDs, be prepared to shell out around $143 and $292. That’s of course assuming that you know a little bit of soldering works so that you can install the SSDs to your Eee PCs by yourself.
Just in time for the Christmas Holiday rush, a new ultra-black version of the Acer Aspire One dubbed A110X has just been released by Acer, but it seems only in Germany. Although there was already a black version of the Acer Aspire One, the design is not totally black unlike the Aspire One A110X which is totally black. (see comparison image).
In terms of specs, the Aspire One A110X sports the same specs as the Aspire One A110. You’d still get the same 1.6GHz Atom CPU, 1GB RAM, 8.9-inch LCD and the rest of the standard features of the original Aspire One. The Acer Aspire One A110X retails for around $509. The previous Aspire One models retails for $399 at Amazon right now. That’s the price you have to pay for an ultra-sleek, totally black Aspire One. Good thing that it’s only available in Germany and not in the US, otherwise I doubt if it will to us budget conscious folks.
Finally, the OLPC XO laptop will soon be accessible to individuals who have been wanting to take part in this worthy cause. OLPC has announced that it will start selling the XO Laptop through Amazon.com on November 17. The XO Laptop will sold through Amazon the G1G1 program where individuals will have to pay for one laptop for the price of two units. The other laptop will be donated to a corresponding child in a developing country.
This would certainly help the OLPC in getting more mileage on their worthy project. However, there seems to be one glitch on this deal. The OLPC XO laptop that will be sold in Amazon will only have the Linux OS. No Windows XP version will be sold. I wonder how easily the recipient kids would be able to adopt to Linux as an OS for the XO?
The XO Laptop will initially be sold through Amazon’s US storefront only but there might be chance that it would also be available in other countries later on.
