The classic Eee PC 901 is really a great Asus netbook if only it’s 16GB SSD drive has a bit more storage capacity. For our friends in Japan, Buffalo has done them a good favor by releasing a 32GB and 64GB SSDs which our Japanese friends can use for their Eee PC 901.  Those higher capacity SSDs are not your usual upgrades that you put inside your machine though. Rather, both SSDs external drives encased in hdd enclosures similar to your regular external IDE hard drives.

To get the 32GB or 64GB SSDs, users have to purchase them together with the enclosure and plug it into your Eee PC 901’s USB port.  It will then replace your Eee PC’s current 16GB SSD sitting inside the machine.

Buffalo Japan has released an external SSD case specifically for the ASUS Eee PC 901-16G (16GB SSD) which runs like a portable external drive that you plug into a USB drive.

These Buffalo SSDs will be available  for around $129 for the 32GB and $228 for the 64GB in Japan in April.

In the land where David G. and I are in right now, coffee shops, free Wi-Fi and Eee PC’s do really mixed well together. Local coffee shops in the Philippines are coming up with ways to increase patronage of their stores, and one way of doing that is by offering free Wi-Fi everytime you purchase their coffee products.

Anyway, to cut the long story short, one local coffee shop in the Philippines, Bo’s Coffee which by the way is not as popular as Starbucks have tied up with Asus Philippines for a raffle promotion where the top prize would be 5 units of the Eee PC S101.

All you have to do is to purchase P200 worth of coffee and you’ll be entitled to a raffle coupon which could win you a spanking new S101.
