As we have reported before, Amazon.com starts today to sell the OLPC (One Laptop Per Child).

There is two ways to buy the laptop, in Give 1 Get 1, people pay US$399 for two XO laptops, one sent to a child in a developing country and the other sent to the donor.

Those who don’t want an XO OPLC laptop can also simply give as many laptops as they want at $199 each.

On Global sources electronics fair in Hong Kong we were shown a lot of new netbooks, in this post we will look on a couple of models from a company called Firstview:

First of is a 7 inch-model called Firstview PC703.

The specifications is:

• 7 inch Digital LCD screen,VGA 800*480 pixels.
• Windows CE 5.0
• CPU: Z228
• Processor: Jade 532MHz 32-bit Processor
• ROM: 512MB ~2GB
• RAM:128MB

As Firstview is a OEM manufacturer these models will probably be sold under different names/brands.

On the Hong Kong Electronics fair Touchmate presented their new netbook, called  PC210. Specifications is as below:

• 10.2″ WXGA 1024×600 LED
• Via C7-M 1.6Ghz CPU
• 1 GB RAM DDR2
• 120 SATA GB HDD
• Wlan (a/b/g)
• Via UniChrome Pro graphics
• Webcam

Asus EEE PC 904HA have the same specifications as 900HA (1.6 GHz Intel ATOM N270 Processor, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, XP Home) but have a 6-cell battery and the same casing as the 1000-series (notice the big frame around the screen).

Amazon now sell the EEE PC 1000h (10-inch Display, 1.6 GHz Intel ATOM Processor, 1 GB RAM, 80 GB Hard Drive, XP Home, 6 Cell Battery) for only $444.49, if you compare this to the $650 pricetag at the launch so is the a very good deal!

Acer Aspire One with 6-cell battery shows up at Amazon for the nice price of $399.95.

There have been many complaints over the 3-cell battery thats ships with the Aspire one that only lasts for 2.5-3h. The 6-cell battery should last 5h+.

Laptopmag has published a interview with MSI’s Director of US Sales Andy Tung about MSI Wind. Here is the most important information he gave:

• Will be released in a 8.9 & 10-inch version.
• Only the 10-inch version will be released in the US.
• Sales starting June 3rd.
• Will be available in four different colors, black, white, silver, and pink.
• 6 hours of battery life!
• Will be sold in one Linux version and one XP version.
• The Linux version will have 512MB Ram and a 80 GB HDD and will have a retail price of 399$.
• The XP version will have 1 GB Ram, Bluetooth and a 80 GB HDD and will have a retail price of 549$.
