Samsung 8GB Class 10 SDHC Extreme Speed Card Review

Memorycardzoo.com has been kind enough to provide us with one of the latest new Samsung 8GB Class 10 SDHC Extreme Speed Cards, that besides it’s Class 10 speeds is Waterproof, Magnet and shockproof!

Since many people rely on their memory cards to keep the family album safe, Samsung has made this memory card with a ‘Epoxy Moulding Compound’ covering, that supposedly can withstand 1.6tons of pressure, X-ray scanners and being in saltwater for at least 24 hours.

Altough I didn’t run it over with my car, i can safely say that this is the most sturdy memory card I ever came across.
My tests included taking the card for a swim in the mediterranian sea and kicking the shit out of the card with my size 14 sneakers!

I’m sorry I couldn’t provide any magnet tests, but frankly, i don’t have any strong magnets to test it with!

As for transfer speeds the card is just slightly faster than my Sandisk Ultra 2 (class 2) 16GB card. I managed to get read speeds around 20mb/s and write speeds slightly over 15mb/s.

With that being said, the Samsung card really comes out on top of the competition, being both fast and secure!

All in all, i would rate the memory card an easy 9 out of 10! Good Job Samsung

External SSD for the Eee PC 901 Spotted in Japan

The classic Eee PC 901 is really a great Asus netbook if only it’s 16GB SSD drive has a bit more storage capacity. For our friends in Japan, Buffalo has done them a good favor by releasing a 32GB and 64GB SSDs which our Japanese friends can use for their Eee PC 901. Those higher capacity SSDs are not your usual upgrades that you put inside your machine though. Rather, both SSDs external drives encased in hdd enclosures similar to your regular external IDE hard drives.

To get the 32GB or 64GB SSDs, users have to purchase them together with the enclosure and plug it into your Eee PC 901’s USB port. It will then replace your Eee PC’s current 16GB SSD sitting inside the machine.

Buffalo Japan has released an external SSD case specifically for the ASUS Eee PC 901-16G (16GB SSD) which runs like a portable external drive that you plug into a USB drive.

These Buffalo SSDs will be available for around $129 for the 32GB and $228 for the 64GB in Japan in April.

Asus Philippines Ties Up with Local Coffee Shop to Give-away 5 Eee PC S101

In the land where David G. and I are in right now, coffee shops, free Wi-Fi and Eee PC’s do really mixed well together. Local coffee shops in the Philippines are coming up with ways to increase patronage of their stores, and one way of doing that is by offering free Wi-Fi everytime you purchase their coffee products.

Anyway, to cut the long story short, one local coffee shop in the Philippines, Bo’s Coffee which by the way is not as popular as Starbucks have tied up with Asus Philippines for a raffle promotion where the top prize would be 5 units of the Eee PC S101.

All you have to do is to purchase P200 worth of coffee and you’ll be entitled to a raffle coupon which could win you a spanking new S101.

How’s that for a promotional gig? Excuse me now folks, I have to get my caffeine fix at Bo’s coffee from now on. No more Starbucks cappuccino for me for now.

Interestingly, Asia countries are so in this kind of promotional gig for the Asus netbook products, specifically for the S101. Remember the promo gig in HK not so long ago?
