Just at the same time as Asustek has officially announced new Eee PC 901 and Eee PC 1000 series, MSI officially announces MSI Wind, another decent Eee PC competitor.
Just to remind you that this 10 incher features Intel Atom 1.6GHz processor, an 80GB 2.5 inch disk, Bluetooth and 802.11b/g WiFi, 5.5 hour battery and option to choose between Windows XP Home or Linux based system.
The most challenging fact is the price, $399 for a Linux-based system or $499 for Windows based version makes the $625 price of the new Eee PC 1000(H) pretty tough to justify.

ASUS has responded to the user complains that British Eee PC 900 comes with 4400mAh battery while North American Eee PC 900 were shipping with 5800mAh batteries, same as in the original Eee PC 701 4G.
As company stated Asus has special deal with different markets. In EU countries, Eee PC 900 ships with 4400mAh batteries but you will get a two-year warranty within the country you bought the Eee 900.
Practically the same situation as with a trade-off buying the Windows XP powered Eee PC 900, pay for the Microsoft OS and get less storage capacity, 12GB instead the 20GB found in the Linux version. A
nd question remains will European buyers would likely have stronger battery than two year warranty?

Japanese Impress benchmarked latest MSI Wind PC and compared the performance with the other most popular mini laptops on the market.
Main test was performance of the Intel’s Atom processors with typical ULV Core 2 Duo found in ASUS Eee PC models and Sony Vaio VGN-TZ90S with Intel Core 2 Duo ULV U7600.
Leaving aside the performance of integrated graphics and storage, clearly influenced by the type of hard disk or SSD installed, it is curious to note how Atom Z520 from 1.33GHz is unable to compete against the Celeron M 353 from 900MHz Asus Eee PC 900. via [Impress]

CTL has revealed specifications of new IL1PC and guys at Laptop Magazine had a chance to test it. The IL1PC features 7 inch display, VIA’s 1GHz C7-M processor, 1GB of RAM, a 60GB hard drive and Windows XP as OS. Glossy black design gives the system nice look measuring 9.6 x 6.8 x 1.7-inch and weighting just 2.4 pounds. Beside the nice design general impression is that the IL1PC works well with simple tasks such as web browsing and email while multimedia features are not that good. You can get it through online retailers for $449. via [Laptop Magazine]
