It seems as though Raon Digital’s Everun Note with it’s AMD Turion dual core processor and 1GB ram performs better than the current Atom-based notebooks. This has yet to be verified by a third-party but it sure looks promising.

Looks like Asus is going to release a new version of their Eee PC for the desktop market known as the Eee Box. Here are some of the specifications:

  • Runs on Windows XP Home
  • 1.6GHz Atom processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 80GB hard drive
  • 2x USB ports
  • 802.11n Wifi
  • 1x PC card slot

It is also a size of a book (222 x 178 x 26.9 mm) and weighs only 1kg. But the most impressive thing about the Eee Box is the fast boot system known as the Express Gate which allows the Eee Box to be in internet ready mode only 8 seconds after you hit the power button!

The price? Only £199 which isn’t bad with for a computer like this.

Even though the 6 cell battery version of the MSI Wind was said to be available in September, it looks as though Mwave.com is selling them at $570 – $70 more than what we were promised. This extra increase in the price makes the MSI Wind more expensive than the Eee 1000H ($549.99 at NewEgg) even though they have nearly the same specifications.

Your thoughts?

Asus Eee PC 1000

The much awaited 10inch Eee PC 1000 and 1000H has finally hit the UK shelves today. The 1000 model runs on Linux and weighs only 1.33kg as opposed to the 1000H which runs on Windows XP and is 1.45kg. Even though the price difference in tiny (£349 and £369 respectively), the 1000H also offers a hefty 80GB hard drive while the 1000 model offers a 40GB SSD. Both use Intel’s new Atom processor and support both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity for those who are always on the go.

So which one do you prefer? Asus is also boasting that the 1000 series have around 7.5 hours of battery life due to many design enhancements done on these models too.
