Axon Logic’s Haptic Tablet Will Run Windows, Linux And OSX

Well, here’s something we thought we wouldn’t see: Axon Haptic seems to have made a tablet that is compatible with any Darwin OS. What’s so important about that? Because Apple’s proprietary OS X is based on it. Yes, you can now have an OS X tablet – though it’ll probably be illegal considering Apple’s EULA’s. Still OS X is one of the better and smoother operating systems around and if you like your Mac, you’ll probably like using it.

The Haptic won’t just handle Darwin-based operating systems – it can also handle Linux and Windows quite well. All of the components have been chosen to be used to their maximum by all three different OSes. Here’s what you’ll be getting if you preorder it now:

  • 1.6GHz Atom N270
  • 10″ 1024×600 LED-backlit LCD
  • Resistive touchscreen with  stylus
  • 1.3MP webcam
  • Wi-Fi (A/B/G/N)
  • 3G SIM slot (AT&T or Verizon)
  • Built-in speaker
  • 3x USB, Headphone, mic, ethernet, VGA ports, card reader
  • On-screen keyboard and handwriting recognition
  • Removable battery (3hrs)
  • 0.9kg

Notice you don’t have any memory and hard drive there. There’s a bay and two slots for DDR2 memory but it’ll be up to you to slot them in – though there’ll probably be options for models with their own memory and hard drive already available.

You’ll be paying $750 for the preorder and $800 when it finally comes out. No release date has been set yet, but they already have pictures of the tablet in action – it should be out very soon.

Look very similar to the ekoore. Same or better specs. Atom 450. Runs very well Win 7 , Ubuntu 10.04 an jolicloud. Lot cheaper for 475 Euro. http://www.ekoore.com

For the price you'd think they'd make it at least look nice.
