Boost your screen resolution with this Win7 hack

If you’re hankering for a bit of screen real estate on your tiny netbook screen, you might want to try this out. First, a caveat. I haven’t tried this out myself but it looks sound. You can always reverse it if you need to

  1. Type in Win+R and put ‘regedit’ (without the quotes) into the box.
  2. Search for ‘Display1_DownScalingSupported’ and change the value from ’0′ to ’1′
  3. Restart and enjoy!

If that’s too tough for you, try the Netbook Resolution Changer. This can increase your resolution to 1024 x 768 or 1152 x 864 but it won’t increase your physical pixels. So expect some squashed images from this hack. I’d personally just use this hack if I had a program that needed a higher resolution and won’t work without it.
