BYD shows off wallet netbook ala Sony Vaio P
Ever since Sony introduced the Vaio P and made that ad that showed you can fit in your pocket, clones of this ultraportable have been showing up left and right. It’s understandable; people want a really small netbook that you can bring anywhere but without the extreme price tag.
BYD shows that it if others can clone it, so can they. The M09AS is a bit thicker and bigger than Sony’s purse PC and hopefully we see it in stores soon
BYD M09AS
- 8.9″ 1024 x 600 screen
- Intel Atom Z CPU with GMA500
- 1GB RAM
- 16 or 32GB SSD or 60 or 80GB HDD
- Windows XP or Windows 7 Starter
- 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth (optional), LAN, 3g (optional)
- 2 x USB, mic and headphone jacks, card reader, 1.3MP webcam
- 2-cell 3200mAh battery
It’s chassis has that brushed metal look and it doesn’t have a trackpad, only an optical sensor for mouse control. I’m surprised they weren’t able to bake in a Pine Trail processor which would give a significant life boost to that 2-cell battery it has. No word on pricing but we hope it won’t break the bank like the Vaio P.
