Back in March we heard that Acer were releasing an Olympic version of their Iconia A510 in the UK, in time for the Olympic games which are being held in London this year. Exact release information and pricing were previously unknown but, we can now confirm that the Olympic styled Acer Iconia A510 will go on sale next month in the UK.

The Olympic model features the same specifications as the standard A510, which includes a 10.1 inch display, a 1.3GHz quad core Tegra 3 processor, 5 megapixel camera, 32GB of internal storage and runs on Android 4.0, aka Ice Cream Sandwich. The special edition model however has the five Olympic rings engraved on the back of the tablet. Acer are also preloading the tablet with a trial of Eurosport channels.

Carphone Warehouse will begin selling the Olympic A510 in June with a price tag of £350. Like before however, there’s still no word on whether this will see a release outside of the UK.

Asus have made it super easy to unlock the bootloader on the Transformer Pad 300. The Transformer Prime was the first Asus Android tablet to receive an official bootloader unlocked and Asus have continued the trend with the bootloader unlock tool for the Pad 300.

Even though it is an official bootloader unlocking tool, doing so does still void your warranty and you won’t be able to update your tablet the official way. If that doesn’t phase you though, head on over to the download page for the Asus Transformer Pad 300 bootloader unlock tool here, complete with instructions on how to unlock the bootloader of your Pad 300.

An earlier model of device was previewed during CES last January, packed with a 10-inch screen with a high resolution display of 1920 x 1200 pixels, and with support for 1080p video playback. The device came with a 1.3 GHz NVIDIA Tegra 3 SoC quad core processor along with a full gigabyte of RAM. A customized version of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is the Operating System of the device.

It also has HDMI, micro-USB ports, and a micro USB slot. It is unknown, however, whether Acer will stick with these specifications for the current model. After the CES preview, Acer has kept rather silent about the device. The FCC website doesn’t reveal anything about the device, either, except that it will have Wi-Fi connectivity.

The Acer Iconia Tab A700 is expected to be more expensive than previous models, like the Acer Iconia Tab A510, which retails at $449, and the Acer Iconia Tab A200, which costs $299. However, Acer has not announced anything regarding its pricing.

When Apple announced the third generation iPad, they announced that there would not only be the standard Wi-Fi only model but, also a Wi-Fi and 4G. However as the UK doesn’t have a 4G infrastructure yet, there were complaints over the use of the term 4G. Apple also fell foul in Australia with the 4G reference.

In light of this, Apple have quietly changed the 4G references on their website and instead it’s been replaced with “Wi-Fi + Cellular”. This is true for the UK and Australia, as well as New Zealand and South East Asia. It’s also been changed to “Wi-Fi + Cellular on Apple.com which serves the US and Canada. In America, 4G is already available but, presumably it’s been changed on the US site and world wide for that matter so that all of Apple’s stores provide the same information and naming system to stop any confusion.

When Apple announced the third generation iPad known simply as the “new iPad”, their second generation iPad models saw a price reduction with the price point now starting at £329 compared to £399. What Apple neglected to mention however, is that the iPad 2 has had a small hardware upgrade.

The original iPad 2 had a 45nm A5 processor, while newer iPad 2 models are shipping with a 32nm processor. These are more power efficient and give and estimated 16% improvement in battery life for browsing and is estimated to offer 30% more battery life while gaming.

Of course there will be some of the old model’s floating around and unfortunately the only way to tell if you have the improved iPad 2 is by using an app such as Linpack or Geekbench to identify the model number. The iPad 2s with the newer processors have the model number iPad2,4 while older models will be iPad2,1, iPad2,2 and iPad2,3. It’s also likely that the iPad 2s with the older 45mn processor will have 5.0.1 or older running while newer iPad 2s should have 5.1 out the box.

via

Consumers would tend to amaze such a device with high-end specs on a significant low price. Nevertheless, there are lots of budget gadgets in the market, yet, they had failed to impress the audience. But this time, let’s give this new Ematic tablet the center stage for a chance to shine.

As the Ematic eGlide XL Pro 2 has reported, there are two points by which it has been pretty dissected—its features and its market value. First, the previous model goes for only $219, just some more for the considerable affordable e Readers today such as the Nook and Kindle Fire, yet much less compared to Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0. Second, the Ematic eGlide XL Pro 2 will be shipped by the latest Android 4.0 platform Ice Cream Sandwich, something users would be interested with.

The tablet features 10 inches wide screen sporting a 1 GHz CPU and 400 MHz GPU of unfamiliar origin. It also seems that the slate will use Kobo for its book delivery, and still no clue about the Google services though.

The latest version of BlackBerry PlayBook from RIM appears to come out very soon. With the various leaks feeding the public, perhaps, the tablet’s launching date is fast approaching–a good news for its ever loyal fans!

Thorsten Heins, RIM new CEO has freshly confirmed the future availability of the 4G version of the PlayBook tablet. However, he didn’t announce the official release date and its pricing details. Yet, this new leakage has to offer some interesting points for its followers.

The new tablet is known to have the ability to connect the high speed mobile networks; and to be up for more, here are some specs for the device. Unlike with its predecessor which is a 7-incher, the 4G model might actually have 10 inches wide touch panel. It will also take in a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, a special preference for Android apps compatibility and NFC connectivity on a design similar with the first gen PlayBook.

Presently, the current PlayBook model is up for about $200, thus, the next one might be also in line for a good tablet choice open for future grabs.

Here’s your chance to see the Asus Transformer Pad TF300T in action, courtesy of a short unboxing and review video posted by the cool guys over at TabletBlog.de. You can file the Asus Transformer Pad TF300T tablet under the “budget” department, but really, take one good look (even a quick one) at its standard spec sheet and then say that it isn’t worth the paper it’s printed on.

Consider that the Asus Transformer Pad TF300T features a 10-inch 1280×800 IPS touchscreen display, 16GB of onboard storage, 1GB of RAM, and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Inside, it is powered by NVIDIA’s quad-core Tegra 3 chip, the latest iteration of NVIDIA’s powerful mobile computing solution. You also get dual cameras, a front-facing 2-megapixel one and a main 8-megapixel one at the back. And the Asus Transformer Pad TF300T can be had for a price that’s just shy of $400 from Amazon. Certainly that costs less than some other, albeit skinnier counterparts from the competition.

You can buy the Asus Transformer Pad TF300T from Amazon right now. To learn more, continue reading for a video of the unboxing and short review that TabletBlog.de uploaded for our viewing pleasure (note: the reviewer is German and there is also a German-language video available under his YouTube channel).
Thin is in, and Toshiba knows it. That’s why they decked out their latest flagship Android-powered tablet in a sleek 0.3-inch thick chassis. It’s just a tad lighter than the competition, and it can really catch your attention.

But after LAPTOP Mag put it through its paces for a full Toshiba Excite 10 LE tablet review, here’s what they found: it’s nice to have a tablet as thin and as light as the Toshiba Excite 10 LE is, but it is simply not worth the premium price tag–which goes a full quarter of a Benjamin over $500, and then some. And that’s not the least of your problems if you’re going to go with a Toshiba Excite 10 LE tablet for your needs.

There are issues with the screen, sound quality, and several other hardware features which include the camera. LAPTOP Mag‘s advice is to simply take a look at what the competition has to offer at much lower price points. Don’t take my word for it, go read the full Toshiba Excite 10 LE review via the link below.
