MSI first gained recognition for a great build quality on the original MSI Wind. While this has failed to innovate and just use cheaper materials instead, many are wondering if the latest model, the MSI Wind U180, made the difference from the others.

The 10.1-inch device ships with a 1,024 x 600 native screen resolution. It runs on Intel dual-core Atom N2800 the with clock speed of 1.86GHz. The chip is supported by 1GB of memory and has a 320GB hard drive for storage.

Additional features include GMA 3650 integrated graphics, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, an Ethernet port as well as a 0.3 megapixel webcam. Buyers will also get a token chiclet keyboard, a built-in SD/MMC card reader, a six-cell battery and Windows 7 Starter as the operating system of choice.

The MSI Wind U180 is now available for pre-order in Germany. With the specs mentioned above, it comes at the price of €349(around $451). Some may have second-thoughts on this since the MSI Wind netbooks haven’t changed for 3 years.

Micro-Star International has completed the preparations for the shipping of the MSI Wind U180 Cedar Trail netbook. This goes with the collection of entry-level mobile personal computers.

There was no announcement or any actual effort to spread the word about this device. However, with how sharply the popularity of netbooks has declined recently, this is possible. There is also the matter of MSI not having put any effort into changing much of the Wind series of netbooks, design-wise that is.

The new model is powered by Intel Atom N2800 dual-core CPU with a clock speed of 1.86 GHz. Its video capabilities are provided GMA (graphics media accelerator) 3650. Storage is 350 GB HDD, while a built-in SD/MMC card reader allows for interfacing with cards from photo cameras, phones, etc.

Other specifications include an Ethernet port, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, a 0.3 megapixel webcam and a 10.1-inch LCD with native resolution is 1,024 x 600 pixels. As for software, the MSI Wind W180 netbook is loaded with Microsoft’s Windows 7 Starter.

The price is of 349 Euro, which more or less translates into $451. Whether or not this sum is worth it for something that soon enough won’t have over Ultrabooks is for buyers to figure out. Everyone should just try and remember that even the first-generation Ultrabooks have gone down in price.

A new cooking assistant in the form of a tablet is coming to the UK in the second half of 2012. The device called the Qooq, has already been well-received in France, will be ready to assist culinarians in British kitchens once an English version of the platform is completed.

Qooq offers a 10.1-inch mineral glass touchscreen with an aspect ratio of 16:9. It runs on a 1GHz ARM Cortex A9 dual-core processor. Users can access the Internet through Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n connectivity as well as an Ethernet port.

The tablet also comes with 8GB of storage capacity, USB 2.0, and an SD/SDHC card reader. Its special features which make it suitable for kitchen use are its waterproof buttons, splash-proof surface, and non-slip blocks made by Zamac.

Its operating system is Linux, although the software has been created exclusively by Qooq developers. The Qooq software allows users to consult 3,500 pre-loaded recipes from 100 chefs, some of them with videos to facilitate instruction. This number is apart from recipes which may be downloaded from the Internet, which the software also allows.

Users may also use email, access social networking websites, and play music or videos. The Qooq is available in color red, black, and cream.

In France, the Qooq is sold for 349 Euros (£289), but its UK price, which may be different is still unavailable.

Chinese tablet manufacturer, Zenithink, is making Google Android 4.0 available for most of the company’s recent 7 and 10 inch tablets. This includes the Zenithink C71, which gained a bit of attention after the developer, Aaron Seigo, announced that it would be the basis of the new Spark tablet with KDE Plasma Active Linux software.

While the Spark will come with its Linux-based, Zenithink C71 can already be purchased for as low as $126. For that price, users will get a model with Android 2.3 Gingerbread. This can be upgraded to Android 4.0. Users can also build their own Spark Tablet by installing the Mer Linux distribution and KDE Plasma Active software environment.

The Zenithink C71 isn’t exactly a top-of-the-line tablet. It sports a 7 inch display, 800 x 480 resolution and runs on a 1 GHz Amlogic 8726-M ARM Cortex-A9 processor. The processor is backed by 512MB of RAM as well as 4GB of storage.

Apart from this, the company also makes a C72 tablet with a 7 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel display as well as several 10 inch tablets.

After being banned in Germany and subjected for injunction in Australia for a short while, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is now coming to US Cellular. This time, the most controversial 10.1 inch WXGA tablet will have LTE connectivity and Android 3.2.

When Apple sued Samsung for copying its designs and making products such as the Galaxy Tab 10.1, it drew the attention of the entire tech world. In the end, however, Samsung had created the Galaxy Tab 10.1N, showed changes in the design of the original slate.

The Galaxy Tab 10.1 has a front facing camera, but lacks ports. With Android 4.0 coming as an update for the tablet, the Galaxy Tab 10.1 will get even better. The only problem is the TouchWiz UI, which some users could certainly do without. If customers are lucky enough, US Cellular won’t include this extra layer of customization.

The tablet will be available on US Cellular this March, but there’s no pricing just yet.

ASUS is rumored to be working on yet another version of its Eee Pad tablet. The TF300T design and model number suggest that this tablet is a follow-up to the company’s quad-core Transformer Prime TF101, which was released last year. The rumored tablet was seen on a Taiwanese site, NCCC and is said to be accompanied by a certification from QuieTek, which provides wireless testing for electronics.

This new ASUS tablet has a 10.1-inch screen and its outer features appear to be identical to that of the Transformer. Apart from this, no other specs are revealed about the device as of now. The device was assembled by Wistron.

The rumored tablet may turn out to be nothing more than a guinea pig for a current or past device. Still, anyone can expect that this tablet may come with more features as well as better performance. More information about the device may be revealed at Mobile World Congress if ever this rumor would be true.

Samsung scores on its ongoing legal battle with Apple over smartphones and tablets. German court ruled that Samsung can continue to sell the Galaxy Tab 10.1N tablet as well as the Galaxy Nexus smartphone in that countr… at least for now.

After having the Galaxy Tab 10.1 banned in Germany, Samsung introduced the Tab 10.1N with some changes on its outside look in order to get around the court ruling. Apple tried to get a preliminary injunction against that tablet too.

The latest ruling may not be the end of the matter. But a German judge has decided that Apple’s argument that Samsung’s products will violate one if its patents on touchscreen technology may not hold much water, since the patent could be overturned. Thanks to Samsung’s efforts to show that the technology was already available before Apple was granted that patent.

Nevertheless, despite Samsung’s victory, the Galaxy Tab 10.1 is still banned in Germany, while the Galaxy Tab 10.0N will continue to be sold.
