This technology will also reduce costs for Apple, allowing the company to sell the device at a lower price.

As compared to the older G/F/F or glass/film/film layout found in previous iPad models, this new technology subtracts one layer. The G/F2 structure designates the electrode on the top and bottom of the ITO film, which is later laminated onto glass.

This technology also gives the iPad mini a higher level of transparency as well as a good level of sensitivity, despite earlier skeptics saying that the latter is difficult.

Apple’s chosen supplier for the materials is Nitto, while Nissha Printing and TPK are tasked to manufacture the touch displays.

The G/F2 thin-film touch technology joins the list of much-awaited features for the iPad mini, including a 7.85 inch Retina Display with a resolution of 2048 × 1536. It is also expected to come with 8GB of storage, and possibly, the new Apple new iOS 6 as well as Siri, Apple’s famous virtual assistant.

With Apple’s great influence on the tablet market, these specifications will undoubtedly set the bar higher for future 7-inch products.

Rumors for the launch of iPad mini won’t seem to die, hence just giving the public a wide space for speculations of its real birth. Apple’s solid watcher, iMore which happens to conduct news regarding some Apple’s products before, has now come up with a report about releasing a smaller version of iPad this coming October.

But the good news in here isn’t the petite size actually, but the rumored price of the tablet. According to the iMore site, the iPad mini might reach a price between $200 and $250—with a much like cost difference compared with the tab’s preceding versions. Perhaps, this might something Amazon Kindle Fire would be really concerned of.

Apparently, the iPad mini will have 7.85 inches screen size against the standard 9.7 inches of the previous tablet model. Also, what would actually turn the head of consumers unto this upcoming device is that it will also feature the latest Retina Display technology–same with the iPad 3, having a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels.

Hence, if these rumors would be true, then this might be again a hit kick for Apple due to its convincing quality plus its reasonable valued price.

Price indeed matters- this is the statement wherein most consumers usually fall to be their buying motto. Perhaps, it may even be appropriate for some sellers as well; in fact, there are makers specifically in the electronics gadget industry who are very particular in the cost probability of their offered product devices.

One good example is the manufacturers of the Ainol Novo 7 Aurora II and Elf II tablets. These two new slates, are reportedly keeping their prices down for the budget market. The Aurora II costs for only $190, while the Elf II goes for just $160. Great values for new tablets aren’t they? Well, let’s see if they also go with their specs right.

Both models have 7 inches screen display with a standard 1024 x 600-pixel resolution. They boast 1.5 GHz Cortex A9 processors with 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal memory storage each. Also, the Aurora II and Elf II will ship the latest Android 4.0 platform together with the Mali 400 GPU that was also on the trendy Samsung Galaxy S II.

Unfortunately, the two units are lacking the GPS and Bluetooth features- hence possibly one of the main reasons why these two tablets are made to be priced inexpensively.

Huawei is bringing out an Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for its MediaPad tablet. The update, which will replace the Android 3.2 Honeycomb Operating System that the device originally shipped with, may be obtained through the Huawei official website’s Downloads section.

The Ice Cream Sandwich update available offers a more or less the generic Android 4.0 enhancements. Among these are the improved UI with new virtual buttons, a gallery app, camera app, people app, lock screen actions, resizable widgets, improved text and voice input, home screen folders, unified calendar and voicemail, Android Beam for NFC and swipe to dismiss function.

It also comes with better camera capabilities, Live effects for video, a photo editor, and enhancements with browsing and email. Performance enhancements are also available with the new OS. This OS handles multitasking well and is said to be easier to use than Android 3.2 because of the many enhancements.

The MediaPad offers a 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon dual core CPU, a full gigabyte of RAM, and 8 GB of internal storage. It also comes with a 7-inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. Dual cameras are also onboard, along with several connectivity options including Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth.

Called the UbiSlate 7+ and 7C, these tablets will be both powered with Android 2.3 Gingerbread Operating System although it remains to be known whether they will offer access to Google Play.

To add more sweetness to the deal, Datawind has also forged a contract with the carrier Aircel to provide users of the Ubislate 2 GB of GPRS data for a low price of only Rs 100 each month, which translates to 2 USD or 1.5 EUR.

The UbiSlate 7+ and UbiSlate 7C are both packed with MHz single core processor and 256 MB of RAM, which attests to the fact that Datawind is more interested in providing inexpensive tablets than high-performance ones. For storage, the UbiSlate 7+ carries 2 GB of internal memory and the UbiSlate 7C offers 4 GB of the same.

Both tablets come with a 7-inch screen with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. Whereas the UbiSlate 7+ is equipped with a resistive display, the UbiSlate 7C has a capacitive display. Both tablets support GPRS and Wi-Fi functionality.

They also both come with a 3200 mAh Li-Ion battery, which promises up to 180 minutes of battery life. For expansion, a microUSB and full size USB port are also onboard.

The release date for these two tablets is still currently unknown.

If you’re on a tight budget, yet doesn’t want to compromise owning a tablet, then you may consider this new slate.

Philips might be the solution for your techy dilemma. This electronics company has produced and now intros its 7-inch tablet running on Android Ice Cream Sandwich OS. The slate is named as PI3800, based on the MIPS processor architecture from Linley Group.

The tablet has a 16: 9 multi touch display supporting a 1024 x 600-pixel resolution. It is powered by 1 GHz Linley CPU and has 8 GB of NAND Flash memory. Also, Philips PI3800 measures 13.2mm in thickness and weighs about 365 grams.

The slate also is a proprietor of audio technology called FullSound, meaning, this could reduce the disadvantages of compressed audio formats. Hence, this model comes with professional acoustic speaker set up for a clean and well-balanced sound.

Added features include 2 MP rear and VGA front cams, 0.75 integrated speakers, Wi-Fi connectivity, built-in Bluetooth 2.1 and microUSB port too.

However, pricing and availability details aren’t available yet, but definitely, this tablet would come as cheaper as other decent slates in the market.

It’s not the first time we’ve heard rumours surrounding an “iPad Mini” from Apple but, more rumours have come about citing Q3 release for a smaller iPad. Previous rumours suggested that Apple would launch a mini iPad along side the third generation iPad announced April 7th. No such announcement was made at Apple’s press conference however.

NetEase however claim that Apple will launch a smaller iPad in the third quarter of this year to fight off competition from the Amazon Kindle Fire. The iPad Mini is rumoured to feature a 7 inch display, the same size as found on the Kindle Fire and will also have a similar price tag of around $200.
