Before you start blaming Asus’ desicion to redesign its Eee Keyboard recently as the culprit why its release is delayed again, stop. According to Digitimes, that is not the reason why the Eee Keyboard won’t be reaching the market in time for the holiday season but will have to wait until 2010.

The reason? Well, the original version of the Eee Keyboard didn’t make it through some wireless testing regulation.

The good news is – once it comes out in 2010, perhaps during CES 2010 we might be looking at a better Eee Keyboard. That’s the bottom line of it all. What’s the point of rushing a gadget when you know that it will just conk out on users easily?

So, let’s all start looking forward to 2010 then.

If you often bring your netbook in a cafe or in any public area with Wi-Fi hotspots, you may not be aware that people nearby may actually be staring at your screen. I’ve experienced this often especially when I work inside a Starbucks Store.

To prevent other people see what you’re working on, you might want to consider getting the 3M Gold Privacy Filter. This 10.1-inch film is perfect for all 10-inch netbooks and offers ample protection that prevents other people especially those looking from your side angle, from seeing what’s on your screen.

Aside from this, the 3M Privacy Filter film also gives your netbook screen additional clarity. It’s actually a two-product in one – a privacy filter and screen clarity enhancer.

This privacy filter film is available in the U.S. via Amazon for $30+

Both netbooks were at maximum power with the following settings – full brightness, Wireless LAN and Bluetooth both ON and under the super performance mode.

netbook-carkit
Over at GadgetMix, one writer has reviewed a netbook car mount. The mount supports netbooks from 7 inches to 13, so will fit most netbooks even with an extended battery. It comes with a gooseneck bracket which can be adjusted. It features a strong suction cup which, was also put to the test. The reviewer used both an Asus Eee PC 701 and the Asus Eee PC 1000H which is “one of the heaviest netbooks ever made” on the mount with no problems. Perfect for those who want to use GPS on the netbook in the car.

It’s available from Ultimate-Netbook for £24.99. Using the code WEBMIX will get you a 10% discount. If you do grab the mount yourself, remember to use it safely.

mobilelite-g2

Here we have the Kingston MobileLiteG2 multi-card reader which supports various memory card formats. These include SD.SDHC, microSD, microSDHC, Memory Stick PRO duo, Memory Stick Micro (M2), and Memory Stick PRO-HG.

The MobileLiteG2 also runs well with either Mac or Windows PCs. But of course it will be best use with our netbooks basically because of its small size.

The Memory Card reader has retractable covers on each sides to prevent damage, similar to a USB Flash drive.

The Kingston MobileLiteG2 card reader is available as a stand-alone unit or you can have it bundled with a 4GB or GB SDHC card.

hp-mini-pink-chic-bundle

Following hot on the footsteps of Sony, HP are also releasing their own pink netbook to raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness month. Like Sony, the netbook is available in pink with a matching carry case and USB mouse. With the HP netbook though, you can purchase the accessories on their own, or the netbook on it’s own. Adding the accessories to the netbook is $10 more, which is a pretty good price for a case and mouse. The netbook has been dubbed the HP Mini Pink Chic, which features a 10.1 inch display, 1GB of RAM, 3 cell battery, 160GB hard drive and comes installed with Windows XP. The bundle is available now from Best Buy for $379.99 and is available to purchase until the end of October. HP will donate $1 from every sale.

ubuntu_netbook_remix_1_sm

If you’re like me who have been wanting to run any flavors of Linux on my Eee PC 1000HE or any other netbook for a long time now, here’s a primer that might actually help you pull this one through. Maximum PC is running this Primer on Lighweight Netbook Computing with Linux.

The article rounded-up most of the Linux flavors that we can all use and run on our netbooks and discussed the peculiarities and features of each of these Linux distros. Of course I’m assuming that they have tested all of them to come up with such a comprehensive write-up.

Anyway among the Linux OS they mentioned include – Easy Peasy, Ubuntu Netbook Remix,  Crunchbang, EeeBuntu, Xubuntu and among other Linux distros.

If you still can’t decide which Linux OS to run on your netbook, you might want to check out Maximum PC’s primer first.
