Asus recently confirmed they were going release some new ultrabooks in their home country Taiwan. We can now confirm that Asus are bringing four ultrabooks to the US market.

The ultrabooks feature the latest Intel Core processor most commonly known as Ivy Bridge. They will also have 1080p IPS displays. The four models that will be released in the US are the UX21A, UX31A, UX32A and UX32VD. All of the ultrabooks will have a 1920×1080 display, including the UX21A which will have an 11 inch display, while the other three ultrabooks feature a 13 inch display. They will also feature a re-tooled keyboard, which makes the pitch 12% deeper as well as being backlit. The touchpad has also been tweaked.

The UX32A uses hybrid hard drives, while the UX31A uses SSD. The UX32VD differs to the UX31A as it has an NVIDIA GT 620M GPU but, apart from that they are pretty much identical. The 13 inch models will start at $999 but, as of yet there is no pricing information for the 11 inch UX21A but, we do know that there will be two different configuration models. One with an i5 processor and 128GB SSD, while the other configuration will have an i7 and an optional 256GB drive. Other than announcing the ultrabooks for the US, there’s no information on a release date.

Asus have made it super easy to unlock the bootloader on the Transformer Pad 300. The Transformer Prime was the first Asus Android tablet to receive an official bootloader unlocked and Asus have continued the trend with the bootloader unlock tool for the Pad 300.

Even though it is an official bootloader unlocking tool, doing so does still void your warranty and you won’t be able to update your tablet the official way. If that doesn’t phase you though, head on over to the download page for the Asus Transformer Pad 300 bootloader unlock tool here, complete with instructions on how to unlock the bootloader of your Pad 300.

Asus is starting to offer Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich updates in the United States for the Eee Pad Slider according to a recent Twitter update from the Taiwanese company. This coincides with the Ice Cream Sandwich update pushed for the Samsung Galaxy Note.

As per usual, the Asus update is sent over the air (OTA), enabling the Eee Pad Slider to be at par with other Asus tablets which have already gotten Ice Cream Sandwich updates. Among these are the Asus Transformer Prime and the Asus Eee Pad Transformer.

The Android 4.0 update for the Eee Pad Slider is expected to fix several identified bugs on the device, including perhaps the faulty Youtube app. Android 4.0 will also likely enhance the performance of the device. The new apps, widgets, functionalities, and UI brought by the upgrade will also boost the productivity and enjoyment of the tablet’s users.

The Eee Pad Slider runs on a dual-core 1.2 GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor with 1 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage capacity. It also comes with two cameras, a 5 MP at the back and a 1.3 MP at the front. A slide-out QWERTY keyboard facilitates input, while a microSD card slot is available in case there is a need for storage expansion.

Asus has revealed an upcoming ultrabook which boasts of a 1 GB NVIDIA GeForce GT620M graphics card running alongside an Intel Ivy Bridge processor. Called the Zenbook UX32VD ultrabook, this device was seen at a recent event in Taiwan.

The Zenbook UX32VD joins the slew of powerful new devices including two ultrabooks, called the UX21A and UX31A. Both of these devices have high resolution screens of 1920 x 1080 pixels measuring 11.6 and 13.3 inches diagonally.

Meanwhile, the Zenbook UX32VD ultrabook is packed with the third generation Ivy Bridge processor which has integrated graphics. This technology enables the ultra slim notebook to support full HD 1080p videos as well as 3D gaming. The device will also come with a Solid State Disk (SSD) and wireless display (WiDi) functionality.

Several flavors of this ultrabook are expected to hit the market, which could retail from $800 to over $1000. The cheaper models will have a Hard Disk Drive instead of a Solid State Disk, and a lower native resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. These budget devices will also not have NVIDIA graphics, which significantly raises the price of the ultrabooks.

We don’t hear a lot about netbooks these days, and yet the category is arguably what set the whole consumer electronics industry on the fast track to delivering smaller, more powerful, and longer lasting devices for mobile computing. The guys over at Notebook Check recently put one of the latest netbooks from Asus’s stable through a full review, and here’s what they’ve found. The Asus Eee PC 1011CX netbook may pack rather mediocre, yet standard netbook specs these days: 10.1-inch 1024×600 resolution LCD screen, 1.6GHz Intel Atom N2600 processor, 1GB of RAM (not upgradeable), and 320GB of HDD storage, but it’s still worth taking a look at because of the nearly 12-hour battery life. That thing about the RAM being soldered and not upgradeable may be a major drawback for some, but for most casual netbook users, this is actually quite adequate. At the same time, the Asus Eee PC 1011CX sits at a very attractive price point. Certainly much more attractive than most tablets and smartphones out in the market right now. Read the full Asus Eee PC 1011CX review via the link below.

Whether or not you are affected by the rumored PadFone delays that were reported on here recently, here’s your chance to ogle the said Android-powered hybrid device from the good of Taiwan-based Asus. The Asus PadFone has just made its way to Taiwan shores and now, it has been featured in an unboxing video of its own which also includes bits about the PadFone Station Dock. The Station Dock is of course the keyboard dock to which you can plug the tablet part into so that it effectively becomes something similar to the Asus Transformer. See more of these devices for yourself via the Asus PadFone unboxing video below.
Asus is keen on making sure that users of the new Transformer Pad 300 have everything they need. As such, it will be rolling out official firmware updates to these devices. And at the same time, it will also offer the source code available for download on its web site so that those who need may access it whenever they want. Currently, there are two different versions of the same item available for download, both of which can be found linked to on the official Asus web site.

The upcoming Asus Zenbook Prime UX31A Ivy Bridge notebook is now available for pre-order on the Czech site Heureka, and in its standard high-end configuration with a 256GB SSD and 1.9GHz Intel Core i7 chip, the asking price is a cool 31,000 CZK or about $1,625 USD.

For that much money, you can expect to get a full HD IPS 13.3-inch display, 4GB of DDR3 RAM, HDMI and VGA output, a 10-hour battery, built-in card reading capabilities, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 4.0. And of course, it has a backlit keyboard. Keep in mind, though, that even if you can pre-order this particular model right now, you may have to wait until June to actually get your hands on it since that’s when the second-generation Ultrabooks such as this one are supposed to get released in the market.

Also, if you can somehow wait until June actually arrives, you’ll get to see other configurations of this same notebook, including one that sports an 11-inch screen and somewhat lower-level specs (that still pack an Ivy Bridge punch). More details on that are going to be posted here as soon as they become available.

Here’s your chance to see the Asus Transformer Pad TF300T in action, courtesy of a short unboxing and review video posted by the cool guys over at TabletBlog.de. You can file the Asus Transformer Pad TF300T tablet under the “budget” department, but really, take one good look (even a quick one) at its standard spec sheet and then say that it isn’t worth the paper it’s printed on.

Consider that the Asus Transformer Pad TF300T features a 10-inch 1280×800 IPS touchscreen display, 16GB of onboard storage, 1GB of RAM, and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Inside, it is powered by NVIDIA’s quad-core Tegra 3 chip, the latest iteration of NVIDIA’s powerful mobile computing solution. You also get dual cameras, a front-facing 2-megapixel one and a main 8-megapixel one at the back. And the Asus Transformer Pad TF300T can be had for a price that’s just shy of $400 from Amazon. Certainly that costs less than some other, albeit skinnier counterparts from the competition.

You can buy the Asus Transformer Pad TF300T from Amazon right now. To learn more, continue reading for a video of the unboxing and short review that TabletBlog.de uploaded for our viewing pleasure (note: the reviewer is German and there is also a German-language video available under his YouTube channel).
