After knowing about Sony’s plan of entering the netbook market, we know have LG reportedly prepping up its own netbook. Whereas Sony’s netbook doesn’t have a name yet, LG’s own low-cost machine will be called the X110. In fact it was also known that MSI may actually be manufacturing the said netbook.
As with other netbooks available in the market today, the LG X110 will have Intel’s Atom processor. Among its specs are - 8.9-inch LCD display, 2GB RAM, 120GB hard drive, Windows XP OS. It was also reported that MSI may be manufacturing the said LG netbook.
The LG X100 is expected to have an SRP of around $790 for the model with 3G and $625 for the one without.

Digitimes is citing a report by China’s Economic Daily News saying that Sony is planning to manufacture its own low-cost netbook. According to the report, Foxconn Electronics might provide some components of Sony’s netbook and will not be producing the entire product.
Sony’s rumored netbook has been spotted as early as during the WiMax expo earlier this year where an 8.9-inch notebook by Quanta touting VIA’s OpenBook reference platform were accidentally leaked. The notebook listed Sony as the manufacturer.
With the growing popularity of low-cost notebooks today, it is not surprising that Sony would come out with its own netbook. After all, Sony Vaios are one of the most expensive notebook PCs we have in the market. If Sony would indeed come out with its own netbook bearing the VAIO product line, we’re pretty sure it will be a pretty big hit. And it will be a welcome addition to the current crop of netbooks produced by major PC manufacturers including Asus, HP, Acer and MSI.
Things are really getting pretty exciting in the netbook market. After this year is through and the trend in the netbook market continues to surge, we could definitely say that 2008 is the year of the low-cost netbook.

Do you still remember the Elonex One netbook? According to the manufacturer, the sales of their netbook was so successful that they decided to come up with a 2nd iteration, which shall don the name Elonex One T.
The Elonex One T would have the following features which are almost similar to its predecessor’s features: 7in, 800 x 480 display; 1GB of solid-state storage; SD card slot; 802.11b/g Wi-Fi; VGA output; and three USB 2.0 ports. But whereas the Elonex One netbook was a bit on the heavy side due to its heavy top cover, the Elonex One T will be a lot ligther this time. It will weigh for just around 625g.
In addition the Elonex One T would come with a 2GB storage model. Information about its CPU is not yet announced. But we do know that it will have an SRP of around $253.

It looks like the release of another Eee PC competitor and a major one at that slipped into the wires of our ultraportable-netbook-loving-friends. The Acer Aspire one which, for its cheap price and yet comparable specs with the competition, could very well give both the Eee PC and MSI Wind a good competition is reportedly being sold already by some US online resellers.
AspireOne.net spotted one from eWiz.com selling for $383.14. This Aspire One carries the model number AA110-1295, featuring an Intel Atom Processor N270 (1.6GHz, 512KB L2 Cache, FSB 533MHz), 512MB DDR2-533 Memory, 8.9″ WSVGA (1024×600) TFT LCD, w/ Acer Crystalbrite Technology, 8GB NAND Flash Module, 3-cell 2200mAh Battery and Linux OS.
Engadget also cited a listing for both the Acer Aspire A150-1006 ($422.99) and A110-1295 ($399.99). Although the site says that you need to call first to know it stocks are available.

As promised MSI has started shipping its Eee PC 901 rival, the MSI Wind. Stocks of the MSI Wind started showing up on various US online stores including Amazon, Newegg, Buy.com (sold out) and Frys. Amazon is listing the price of the MSI Wind at $499.99 and available only in Black color design.
But wait, before you order your MSI Wind, you ought to know that the current units being sold don’t come with the 6-cell battery but the 3-cell battery instead. We already told you before that the MSI Wind was having problems with regards to the supply of the 6-cell battery prompting them to delay the release of the MSI Wind. MSI promise to ship a separate 6-cell battery package in September though. Interestingly, MSI Wind had it listed with a 6-cell battery pack. Unfortunately it is already sold out as well.
In addition, the currently available MSI Wind models come with the Windows XP version only. The Linux-powered model will also ship sometime in September.

We all know that Acer is set to release its Aspire One, its entry to the low-cost ultraportable market. We also know that the Aspire One would have an 8.9-inch LCD display and an 8GB solid state or 80GB hard drive. But what don’t know is that the Aspire One actually has a big brother, called Acer Aspire One 150X. Now what is the difference between the Aspire One and the Aspire One 150X? The latter’s name is a dead give-away, meaning it will come with a 150GB HD.
The Acer Aspire one 150X was spotted on the product page at Notebooksbillinger.de. The Aspire One 150X will also come with an Intel Atom N270 processor that runs at 1.6GHx and 1GB of RAM. And since it is an ULPC, it will have the Windows XP for its OS.
The Acer Aspire One 150X will SRP at around $630, although there is no official word yet as to whether it will be release in the US.

It looks like our friends in Bangkok, Thailand will have an early feel of the Acer Aspire One this coming July. This is in time for a big TECH Event happening in the said city. Sources also said that Acer is set to release an initial 20,000 units of the Aspire One right after it announce its availability in Bangkok.
After the initial release in Bangkok, other Asian countries are soon to follow. And if you’re wondering how much the Aspire One would cost, Blogeee quoted a reliable source saying that it will have an SRP of around $450.
Not a bad price and competitive enough with the Eee PC 901, eh?
