It looks like Lenovo is up to something good come January 5th 2010. The rumored Thinkpad X200e netbook was sort of confirmed but it will be called the Thinkpad X100e first. Since this will be the entry level for this new series of Thinkpad netbook, the X200e might actually come true later on.

Exactly how this Thinkpad will look like and what will its specs be still remain unknown. But there are a lot of speculations and rumors. Obviously or should I say the Thinkpad should use Windows 7. Otherwise, what’s the point of coming out with a new netbook if it won’t run Windows 7, right?

If it runs Windows 7, therefore the this netbook will have larger screen, but not beyond 12-inch most definitely. Likewise, its RAM should be more than 1GB as well as more than 160GB HDD.

As for the processor, the Thinkpad X100e will most likely get an Intel CULV or AMD Athlon Neo.

Remember how we told you the Sony Vaio W was no longer available from PC World? Well it may be because Sony are releasing an updated model. Like we previously told you, the VAIO W11S1E is still available on Amazon for £330-£332 but now, a new model, the W12S1E is also showing up at Amazon.

The W12S1E features pretty much the same specs as the previous model with a couple of changes. The new model will run Windows 7 Starter instead of Windows XP but, the main change and probably the reason for the new model number, is the hard drive size. The W12S1E will feature a 250GB HDD instead of 160GB. The extra hard drive space and newer operating system will cost you an extra £70 though. The netbook is available to pre-order for £399 in white, tan and pink. Release date is November 10th.

sony-vaio-w11s1eThe Sony VAIO W11S1E was previously available from PC World in the UK for delivery only. Collection from store wasn’t possible and now ordering it, isn’t at all. Not from PC World anyway. Those following the direct link to the 10 inch netbook from Sony will find themselves redirected to the netbook page, with no sign of any Sony netbook in sight.

It is however, still available from Amazon.co.uk. All color models are still currently in stock from £330.

SAMSUNG_AMOLED_006

Fancy a small netbook with ultra-bright screen display? Well, Samsung has one and it is currently being displayed somewhere in the East. This Samsung 7-inch netbook boasts of WSVGA AMOLED screen in 1024×600 pixel resolution display and 16:9 aspect ratio. For its brightness, this netbook wallops a 3000cd/m2 and 1000000:! contrast ration. Considering that those too many zeros, it’s safe to say that this netbook displays graphics pretty well.

Unfortunately there’s not much we could gather about this netbook, aside from the fact that it has a nice-looking keyboard.

Whether this will be available commercially still remains a mystery. In the meantime, enjoy some more high-res photos courtesy of Akihabara News.

fic-litl-600-fcc-headline

It’s not a netbook but the Litl Easel machine is loaded with an Intel Atom Z540   1.86GHz process, 1GB of RAM, 2GB of storage, 12.1-inch 1280×800 pixel display, webcam, WiFi and 2600 MAh battery. But what is it then?

The company responsible for the said machine, Litl calls it a web computer. Meaning, its primary purpose is for users to browse the Internet. Litl Easel as it is called just hit the FCC, so expect a U.S. release pretty soon sans official announcement from the company.

What’s interesting about the Litl Easel is the fact that it will present information in stacks of cards – blue for permanent card for the card catalog, family and friends and settings, white cards which are displayed as web cards in Firefox, and black cards which is similar to widgets.

Other features of the Litl Easel include HDMI port, USB port, and IR receiver for the use of a remote.

Lenovo is preparing some new versions of its IdeaPad S10-2 netbooks. This time these netbooks will be donning colorful new attires. There’s no official words on this yet as Lenovo is still busy with the release of their 11-inch IdeaPad U150 netbooks. But if you will recall, we’ve already told you about the IdeaPad S10-2 a couple of months back. In fact, we were able to get a first hands-on impression of it.

The Lenovo IdeaPad S10-2 that we previewed didn’t look that pleasing with its dull black color so Lenovo is pushing these new colorful designs of the IdeaPad S10-2.

Aside from the new colors, other details of the Lenovo IdeaPad S10-2 remains a mystery. Let’s hope that Lenovo would think about loading it up with Windows 7 already.

While it isn’t available to purchase yet from Best Buy, over at Engadget they’ve got photos of the netbook being unboxed and shown with Windows 7. The netbook comes with the starter edition of Windows 7, which as Engadget note, only includes one wallpaper, the one shown but, I’m sure many will use their own photos anyway, or find other Windows 7 wallpapers from other sources. This is the first demo unit to arrive at Best Buy. You can view the photos of the unboxing after the jump.
