Samsung Galaxy Note users may expect to get a new notification informing them of the availability of a new OTA software update for their devices to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. This has already happened to one Devin Balentina, who revealed in a Twitter post that the 318MB download will update the software on the Galaxy Note to the latest version of the Android software.

So what kind of neat new stuff have been included by Samsung in this software update which has been delayed not once, but twice? You get two updated apps with the Android 4.0 ICS update, which are the S Note App and the S Memo Widget. At least, those are the only things listed in the actual update notification (screenshot above).

There is no guarantee that this software update will be available in all regions or on all devices. For now, what seems clear is that Galaxy Note users who are with carriers such as AT&T may need to wait for an official release from the carrier itself before they can update their devices to Ice Cream Sandwich.

Have you got the time? To port Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich so that it is perfectly usable on a laptop computer? Well, one guy (codename leemgs) did, and he has now posted about it on YouTube for all to see. He hasn’t exactly laid out all the details as to how it was possible to install ICS on his full-size Samsung Sens R60 laptop, but in the video he posted, it can be seen that the OS is actually installed in a partition alongside other operating systems which likely include Windows and other Linux variants. This is what he had to say about the installation and the experience:

I ported the latest Android full source including several devices (e.g: Graphics, Wireless LAN, Wired LAN, Camera, Bluetooth, Sound, USB 2.0) into Intel X86-based Samsung Laptop successfully as a hobby when I was free. Now, this video shows Android ICS 4.0.4 on Samsung laptop R60+. In my experience, Android based laptop is useful sufficiently when I tested some functions like usability and convenience and performance and mobility.

Fancy spending a bit of your time doing this yourself? Take a look at what it looks like first by watching the video below, and then decide. It should be fun.

Refurbished models of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 tablet with LTE from AT&T are now being sold at affordable prices. When the unit is purchased with a two-year contract, it costs only $199. Otherwise, for a unit without a contract, it retails at $399. This tablet carries all the features of the larger, 10.1-inch screen tablet from Samsung but offers a more portable design.

Released on October 2011, the device features a TFT touchscreen with a pixel display resolution of 1280 x 800. It is packed with a dual-core T250S CPU clocked at 1000 Mhz. Its RAM is 1024 MB while the internal storage capacity is 65.536 GB. Android 3.0 is its Operating System. The tablet also comes with a 3 MP front-facing camera with Auto focus, Flash, and 720p Video Recording. For connectivity, the tablet supports Wi-Fi 802.11b / g / n and integrated Bluetooth 3.0.

It is able to read various file formats, including AAC, AAC+, AMR, MID, MP3, WAV, and WMA for audio, and h.263, h.264 / AVC, and MPEG-4 (MP4). It carries Accelerometer and Ambient light sensors. Capable of SMS and MMS, it offers support for GSM network technology at 850, 900, 1800, and 1900 bands.

Considering these specifications, and the fact that it was named as one of the top five Android devices of 2011, the price appears to be a steal.

Last February, it was given light at the Mobile World Congress, but two months after, it seems no clue on its further advancements yet.

A spokesperson from the company itself stated on The Verge last Wednesday that Samsung has no release date fixed to be announced for the device yet, and the one that was publicized in February may not exactly be alike with the final product that will be sold and shipped to users worldwide.

Furthermore, Samsung feels successful about revealing the larger Note and cautioned future consumers that the device that shall hit up the sales may differ from the 1.4 GHz dual-core Exynos SoC, 1280 x 800p screen, and 3 MPl rear-facing shooter that was first exposed in Barcelona. Changes on the undeveloped device are expected to differentiate it from the 10.1-inch Galaxy Tab 2, though no more specifics were given.

The revisions and delayed release creates rumors that Samsung could be aiming to have an advanced device far better than the new iPad by offering a fully quad-core tablet before Apple does. However, there could be other factors that are behind the delay of the Galaxy Note 10.1 besides leap-frogging Apple.

The company now offers its consumers preference shades on their ultrabook. Its Series 5 Ultrabook now sports two new fashionably attractive color options, Hot Pink and Mocha Brown.

The Series 5′s initial launching was took place in South Korea last month. But in this case, Samsung makes it globally accessible. Hot Pink is perfectly suited for the lassie as Mocha Brown goes for the classy. However, despite the fact that the ultrabook submits itself to peripheral change, its interior state remains.

Samsung Series 5 Ultrabooks emerges as a 13-inch model, between 14 and 17.6 mm in thick and weighs about 1.38 kg. It is powered by a dual-core 1.6 GHz and also has an Intel Core i5-2467M processor.

Memory capacity carries a 4 GB of DDR3 RAM, a 500 GB hard drive and a 16 GB Solid State Storage cache. Panel display comes with 1366 x 768p resolution plus an integrated Intel graphics card.

Also, it boasts an exceptional boot speed of 16 seconds propped up by ExpressCache and Samsung Fast Boot Technology.

Its price starts at $899.99 and might soon be listed in Amazon. Nonetheless with this, your Samsung ultrabook won’t be just a work gizmo, but a fashion accessory too!

If you’re an enthusiast Samsung user and up for something fresh, new and more upgraded technologies, then you might be interested with this leak document pointing out this new model Samsung team is working out. Espresso is said to be the brand for the line next to Galaxy Tab and Note lines.

A 7-inch and a 10-inch slates are the two tablets expected by everyone to debut this coming summer. Further details are yet to be uncovered as to how the line is to be differentiated from the previous models.

But something to look forward to is the Espresso slates to link with Smart TVs. This could mean a more and heavy integration to Samsung TV products compared from the previous ones.

Looking at the old ones anyway, the importance to home entertainment as seen by their consumer-grade infrared port and remote control is already a higher step moved in technology so what’s more with the coming Espresso.

Speculations for the specs can be targeted in quad-core Exynos CPU, high resolution 1080 HD soon to Apple’s latest iPad rival and a could be 1920 x 1200 pixels. Above those is the greatest expectation of a feature that could bring the idea of connecting these slates to Samsung TV.

Chromebooks are sweeping in the gadget world just lately. During the IDF 2012, it is the Samsung Chromebook which gets the spotlight for some bits of demos. First in line is its fast boot up speeds, the noticeable showcase of the particular prototype.

The Coreboot is behind the quick and fast start ups BIOS replacement for Linux systems. What is yet to discover is the proof that indeed Google is getting support with Ivy Bridge for the coming Chromebooks in the near future.

For the meantime, the Samsung Chromebook is safely running in a Sandy Bridge processor.

The problem is, chromebooks may be a good prototype but to most consumers, these are the not-so-type ones no matter how Google and other various hardware manufacturers are fusing to such devices. A constant internet connection is needed for the Chrome operating systems to work as these are wholly based in the cloud. Given that it only has a few number of sites supporting offline apps.

The Sandy Bridge is the obvious nice move made if compared to the previous sluggish performance. In addition, HD 3000 GPU is found to be enhancing web video decoding which means more games to play.

Samsung company together with Google’s Android 4.0 software officially commenced an eye-popping price of Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 at $250 for the US market.

Samsung was the first manufacturer to release a legitimate Android-based iPad competitor when it introduced the first 7-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab last September 2010. But the device wasn’t able to surpass the hot rivalry among other tablet vendors then, because of its higher price $600 compared to other cheap slates offered.

This, however, became the important lesson Samsung has learned: competitive price wins. Hence, the second generation Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 will have a cheaper price of at least the half cost of the original version. It will be at retail hubs in US starting on April 22nd and its value will be just a $50 higher with the Amazon’s budget e-reader, Kindle Fire.

On the inside, the device consists of a 1-GHz dual-core TI processor, 1GB of RAM and an 8 GB of internal memory storage. Added features include a VGA front-facing and a 3 MP rear cameras, a microSD card slot that takes up to a 32 GB and an IR blaster.

The second-gen Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 isn’t capable of any 3G or 4G connectivity, only Wi-Fi functionality.

Samsung of South Korea is indeed dedicated in producing mobile tablet PCs focused on durability and fairness. When the first batch of Samsung Galaxy tabs has been released in its native market and international stores as well, Samsung has received a great product appreciation for consumers. Hence, the company has decided to launch again the second generation of Samsung Tab family.

The new Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 will now feature the latest Android firmware, Ice Cream Sandwich OS. It sports a 10.1-inch panel on 1280 x 800p resolution PLS display powered by a 1 GHz dual-core processor. Also, it comprises a 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB to 32 GB of internal memory storage.

The Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 weighs about 1.3 lbs and less than 0.4-inch thick. It doesn’t have major differences from the first launched 10.1 tab aside from a microSD card slot. A VGA front-facing cam and 3MP rear camera, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 3.0 are also found in the package.

Samsung’s next-gen Galaxy Tab 10.1 is priced at $399.99, about $100 lower than the first Galaxy 10.1. It will be available in US market on May 13th.
