The XPS 13 is Dell’s first Ultrabook, and the company is celebrating the release of this small wonder with a kick off event in San Francisco.

The 13.3-inch Ultrabook displays a 1366×768 screen resolution, which is relatively present in other ultrabooks of the same size. It also boasts its edge-to-edge Gorilla Glass to prevent the screen from being scratched. The kind of glass also matters on other mobile gadgets for a number of reasons.

Under the hood is an Intel Core i 2nd Generation processor, supported by 4GB RAM and the option for a 128GB or 256GB SSD. The notebook has a built in 6-cell battery which is rated at 8 hours and 53 minutes of use, even with the standard drop in claimed battery life it should get you through most of the day.

Rounding out the machine is Waves MaxxAudio 4, giving off high-def sound even on thin machines like this. Users will also enjoy the standard backlit keyboard and healthy collection of ports, including USB 3.0 for fast external hard drive connectivity.

While the notebook uses integrated graphics, this highly portable machine makes it possible to quickly look at your work on a larger display while out in the field, without taking up significant space or weighing down a gear bag.

The Dell XPS 13 will be available in February, starting at $999.

Rumor has it that Dell is rolling out gaming laptop lineup this year with M14X R2, M17X R4 and M18X R2. The M14X R2 is an unusual gaming notebook because the graphics processor of 1G/2GB dedicated memory is part of the motherboard and it won’t be a discrete laptop video card. The M14X R2 comes in red or black chassis.

The video card options of the M17X R4 will have the AMD Radeon 7970M, Nvidia GeForce GTX 660M and GeForce GTX 675M.

Details on the M18X T2 is nor yet known expect for the color options being red or black.

Details of the Alien M11X, the gaming netbook, has not yet surfaced. It should be the 4th revision of this model.

The previous generations of the mentioned models has displays of 14″ (M14X), 17.3″ (M17X) and 18.4″ (M18X). Intel Sandy Bridge dual and quad-core processors would power this babies as well as GPUs from AMD or Nvidia. Hopefully, these gaming line would see the light of day on the 2nd Quarter of 2012.

Dell Streak 7 was a favorite among early tablet adopters. For those who hid their 7-inchers out of obscurity, be pleased. Hackers are able to install Android 4.0 to the device. The Streak 7 was officially discontinued last December, so if you are planning to go hacking you can go to eBay or Craigslist for used devices.

Installing Android 4.0 on the Streak 7 is somewhat complicated, and it’s in beta build. There lots of polishing needed. Camera, cellular radios, video acceleration are one of the few things that aren’t running. The gallery app won’t even recognize SD cards and you cannot mount your Streak 7 as a USB mass storage device when you plugged in into you computer.

You will be pleased to know that the touchscreen is fine as well as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and most of the sensors. Grab the ROM here and install at your risk!

December, last year, last month, Dell discontinued the Streak 7 tablet from the US market, a few months after the 5-inch model was discontinued too. The company pointed out that the Streak 10 Pro is available in China and Windows-based Latitude was launched back in November for the healthcare, education and finance markets. Nevertheless, the move effectively removed Dell from the tablet race on its very home country.

According to reports, Dell is planning on coming back. It blames its hastiness and now taking time on how to develop tablets that can compete with the frontrunners, especially Apple’s iPad series. Steve Felice, President and Chief Commercial Officer for Consumer & SMB at Dell, said that it’s planning a bigger push into the consumer tablet arena and will focus on ecosystem rather than any bells and whistles.

“When you are talking about PC, people are more focused on the hardware itself. When you are talking about the tablet or the smartphone, people are interested in the overall environment its operating in,” he said. “As we have matured in this, we are spending a lot more time in the overall ecosystem.”

Felice confirms that Dell is targeting a late-2012 timeframe for the relaunch of its consumer tablet. He kept silent though on whic mobile OS Dell would favor. He praise Windoes 8 OS, but maintained that they will continue to develop tablets based on Android since it is the choice OS based on consumer feedback.

After they pulled out their 5 and 7-inch Streak tablet PCs, there has been no Dell tablet available that is running on the Android platform, except, of course, if one counts the 10-inch model available in China.

This year, however, Dell is intending to launch one or more new tablets PCs. Rumor has it that the new devices could run on Windows 8, the newest update to Microsoft’s OS, or even on Android.

In CES 2011, Dell introduced the 7-inch Streak tablet PC which came with an NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core processor, the only one of its kind to do so. Unfortunately, the Streak wasn’t able to produce the desired results and was soon withdrawn by Dell. There remains in the market, however, their 10-inch Windows based tablet named Latitude ST which has been designed for the enterprise class.

In an interview with Reuters, commercial officer Steve Felice revealed that they intend to give their users products based on their choices and feedbacks, which is why there are developing products running on Windows and Android. This, Felice hopes, will be their edge over competitors like Apple, since Dell’s products will be what he calls “consumer products”, that is, designed for the convenience, needs, and wants of the regular user.

Dell has confirmed that the company will launch its latest consumer tablet during the second half of 2012. However, it’s not yet clear if the new device will have a Windows or Android OS and whether the company will launch one or more of each.

When Dell introduced the Streak 7 tablet at the CES back in 2011, it was one of the first tablets that is built around a NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual core processor. However, the enterprise features were not mentioned in the promotional video which showed music, video, photos as well video calling capabilities.

Dell has discontinued the availability of the 5 and 7-inch Streak tablets and it wasn’t offering any Android tablet in the US as of this day. Nevertheless, the company is still selling a 10-inch Streak 10pro in China.

Dell is expected to release its first Windows tablet for consumers once Windows 8 is available in the second half of the year.

Dell is now ready to debut its first ever ultrabook in the public. The even slimmer at 0.24” and constantly lighter weighing 2.99 pounds is named as the XPS 13.

Though the maker classified the Dell XPS 13 as a 13-incher ultrabook, this mobile computer has a notebook framework of 11.6 inches. This resulted due to the thinner, smaller and borderless style of its Corning’s sturdy Gorilla Glass panel bezel. This Dell model featured the Intel Core i3 processor, 128GB solid state disk and a 4GB of DDR3 RAM. Yet the company will even offer other versions having the Core i5 and i7 on 256GB SSDs but on higher prices. In addition, all models will equip Intel HD 3000 graphics, Smart Connect Technology for quick access on latest email, social network and other updates even the laptop is inactive, as well as the Rapid Start Technology from Intel for speedy booting and re-opening skill of the computer.

Conventional ports like USB 3.0 and 2.0 with the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth services are also included in the XPS’ total package. Consumers might get this latest machine at a price of $999.

Last October when the Dell Steak 7 has received the Android Honeycomb upgrade; yet bugs have continued to stick on with. To quite refresh your memory, the Streak 7 is the intriguingly last tablet of Dell to carry a 7-inch panel size. It has a 16GB of internal storage, Wi-Fi enabled, with integrated Bluetooth plus built-in GPS; ideally made for business applications and management.

According to Android Central’s source, there’s a new update to cover up the previous irritating issue of the sound cutting when connected to the docking station. Just provide a back-up for your tablet to prevent unnecessary dillemas. Users may now try the new update procedure below:

Download the update from Dell.

Copy the update to your SD card.

Turn the Streak 7 off.

System Recovery Utility: Press and hold the volume + button and the power button, hold both button down until the configuration menu appears on the screen.

Select update package.

The Dell Streak 7 Honeycomb tablet primarily aims to allow consumers to browse, download and share business quality every user deserves.

The number ‘30’ in their label distinguished them in the preceding Latitude ‘20’ models.

The all four laptops will fit between 14 and 15.6 inches and will equip new sturdy hardware platform according to Notebook Italia. If that so, then the notebooks could probably turn up a faster portable Sandy Bridge dual or quad-core CPUs, the Intel’s previously unveiled processor and also known as the Core i3-2350m, Core i5-2430M and Core i7-2670QM. Another theory is that Dell might update this feature to Ivy Bridge processor, which means that the new Latitude notebooks are unavailable until it reached the Q2 of 2012.

Possibly, the entire specs of the Dell’s Latitude laptops will soon unveil in the coming CES which might include of NVIDIA GeForce 600M and AMD Radeon HD 7000 series for better Dell notebooks ‘ graphics design.
