Although Dell’s plans of upgrading their Alienware offerings to Ivy Bridge does not include the widely popular M11x gaming notebook, it looks like there may still be hope to see an updated version of it come out soon after all.

Information received by the guys over at Maximum PC indicate that Dell is working on possibly rebranding the Alienware M11x and putting it under either the XPS or Inspiron product line. When that happens, putting out an updated M11x with Ivy Bridge just might be in the cards.

At the same time, Dell is reportedly also looking to launch Alienware Ultrabooks some time later this year, a move that could really put Ultrabooks on the road to mass market adoption.

All of this information is essentially speculation at this point, and the identity of the unnamed source being cited in Maximum PC‘s report is unknown. Perhaps we’ll all here more about this in the coming weeks or months, if and when information becomes available directly from Dell itself.

With cooperation of ten undisclosed Chinese and global vendors, Intel works closely to create Windows 8 tablets with Intel Chips inside. This information came from the company official of Intel China chairman, Sean Maloney who recommends in waiting for further improvements and a lot of Intel-based tablets by the end of 2012.

Maloney stated about the Medfield CPU getting ready to take over the mobile market. This CPU is the Atom Z24460 built especially for mobile phones and tablets that provides high computing functions with additional improvements on the battery performance.

One of the latest and the first handset that contains the Medfield processor is the Lenovo’s K800 which will be available in China by the end of May. Intel is now on the job in creating another chip for tablets, called the Clover Trail that features a 1.8 GHz CPU and is scheduled to arrive this year.

As we all know, Intel is the leader in making chips for PCs, but it aims to expand tablets and phones through dealing with ten tablet sellers that will surely contribute well. Toshiba, Lenovo and Dell will be the first makers to launch tablets running on Windows 8 Operating System.

If you consider yourself one of the many people who are currently longing for your very own Windows 8 tablet PC (a proper one, that is), then you want to keep your eyes peeled for what’s going to happen by September-October of this year. Because according to a report on the Chinese site DigiTimes, that is when companies like Asus, Acer, Samsung, Lenovo, and HP can be expected to launch their x86-based Windows 8 tablet PCs in the market. What exactly are they waiting for? Possibly perfection, but it’s also said that these same companies, along with several others like Samsung, Toshiba, and Sony, have plans to launch Windows 8 on ARM (WoA) offerings as well. We won’t be seeing any official releases for devices of that kind until early 2013, though. This is all according to the same unnamed source cited by DigiTimes in its report. The only thing that’s really sure at the moment is that you will still have time to save up for these babies for when they actually do get released in the market. Keep it here for updates.

Although the hype over the new iPad with its Retina display, LTE connectivity and iSight camera is far from over, not everyone is impressed with the device.

Dell believes that the iPad needs many other improvements to be considered as the ultimate device. Specifically, it cites reliable security regarding information, uniformity, and compatibility between devices as the areas where the New iPad is still lacking. These are crucial areas for corporate consumers, and Dell believes that its devices meet these needs.

Among the Apple devices, the iPad particularly, fails in these areas as proven by the many complaints of those in business about the device’s lack of a physical keyboard. This is a compromise that they have to make especially when they bring the tablet with them during travel and leave their computer behind.

Dell, which has also entered the tablet market, initially produced gadgets running on Android. However, their future devices might have Windows 8 OS on board, instead. The tablet-focused functionalities of the beta version of Windows 8 has given much encouragement to Dell. Nonetheless, they are not closing their doors to Android. Dell will announce its tablet plans later this year.

Notwithstanding the tough competition in the tablet niche today, Dell believes that there is still space for them to please audiences.

An increase in the demand for Windows 8-based tablets may be what will pull customers from Apple to Dell products.

Dell is currently preparing a tablet computer running on Windows 8 that will be specifically designed for users who are in business. The company is planning to launch the tablet on the exact same date that Windows 8 is expected to launch. The release date, however, hasn’t been revealed.

The main selling point will be Microsoft’s Office programs which are deemed highly suited for corporate users. Dell as well is planning a tablet with a faster processor, better screen, and quicker browsing speeds than the newest iPad which had just been released recently. Moreover, the tablet-focused functionalities of the new Windows 8 may attract customers to Dell products.

Meanwhile, Apple is also bent on capturing the same business market. This year, its goal is to sell as many as $10 billion worth of iPad units, possibly undermining Microsoft’s stronghold in this niche. Moreover, Apple is expected to sell two-thirds of the 103.5 million tablets to be sold this year.

As many as 103.5 million tablets are expected to be sold by 2015, which means that Dell may still have hope for its ambitious goal.
