eee pc 900

What do we have here? We all know that Asus has already made available the Eee PC 901 with a 20GB and 12GB SSD. We also know that Asus is about to ship the Eee PC 1000 with a 40GB SSD, and the 1000h with an 80GB HDD. Plus there was also the announced Eee PC 904 and 905. With all these Eee PC models that advances from the Eee PC 900, we wouldn’t expect Asus to retract a bit on its product strategy and release a new Eee PC 900 model.
But it seems like Asus maybe prepping up that model after all, if an Asus China product spec would be the basis. In fact, the Asus China has even listed three variants of the Eee PC 900 with 30GB HDD, black and white models with Linux OS and a Black model with Windows XP.
The price for the Linux version was said to be around $512, while the XP version would sell for around $612.
No words yet on when this Eee PC 900s will be released as well as where it will be released. Stay tune for updates.

If the Eee PC 700 series’ LCD screen was way too small for you and was keen on getting the Eee PC 900 because of its bigger screen but then you were hesistant because its a bit on the expensive side for an ultraportable netbook - then now is the right time to buy it.
Just when the Eee PC 901 starts hitting US stores yesterday, some online retailers are now offering a $100 rebate when you buy the Eee PC 900. Amazon has listed the Eee PC 900 Linux Powered with 20GB SSD, for $449.99 from the previous $549.99. This of course is necessary since the Eee PC 901 is selling for $599.99. So with the price difference between the Eee PC 900 and the Eee PC 901, online retail stores must lower down the prices of the Eee PC 900 if they want to deplete their inventory of the product.
With the rebate, the Eee PC 900 is now cheaper than the MSI Wind U100 which incidentally is currently on stock now at Amazon for $499. But of course the MSI Wind has the Intel Atom processor plus a bigger screen display.
If you’re not took keen on getting the Asus Eee PC for your next netbook, the MSI Wind is definitely a better choice.

Amazon made a rather confusing product listing for the Eee PC 900/901. If you will take a look at the image, the headline says its the Eee PC 900. But if you will take a closer look at the product specs, it was actually referring to the Eee PC 901. Even the listed price of $399 is not the published price of the Eee PC 901.
The question is, should you order this model, would you really get the Eee PC 901 or the Eee PC 900? Would these be enough grounds to trick Amazon into getting an Eee PC 901 for the price of the Eee PC 900?
Any risk takers out there who want to try this out? We would be glad to report how it would turn out. :-)

What Laptop is reporting that Asus has officially announced the release of the Eee PC 904 in the next two weeks. According the What Laptop, the Eee PC 904 will have a full-sized keyboard (as reported in the past couple of days), and will have an SRP of around $582 when it comes out in the UK market mid-July.
Of course, we already know that the Eee PC 904 will have the 8.9-inch display of the Eee PC 900 series. But what we don’t know so far is that the Eee PC 904 will not come with an Atom processor but will instead be pre-loaded with 900MHz Celeron M used in the 900. If you would remember the Eee PC 901 already comes with the Atom processor and so we were expecting the the Eee PC 904 should also have the same processor.
In addition, the Eee PC 904 would also come with 1024MB RAM, 80GB HD and Windows XP.
Whatever the reason of Asustek in releasing the Eee PC 904 without the Atom processor is a mystery. Could be lack of Atom supply or could be part of another marketing strategy.
If there’s one positive effect that the release of the Eee PC 904 gives us consumers is the fact that Asus was prompted to re-align the price of the Eec PC 901 with the Eee PC 904. It was reported that the Eee PC 901’s price will be lowered to around $592 from the previous $651.
So, what would you rather buy? The Eee PC 901 with the smaller keyboard but with more powerful processor or the Eee PC 904 with a larger keyboard but with a less powerful processor?

So before the Eee PC 903 and Eee PC 904, there is also the Eee PC 903. But unlike the 904 and 905 which will both have a larger keyboard, it is still unclear as to what will be the difference between the Eee PC 901 and Eee PC 903 (Likewise, we can’t help but wonder, what happen to 902?)
Likewise the price is also rumored to be almost the same as the Eee PC 901. But since, these are all unofficial photos, coming from unofficial sources, we guess the best thing to do is wait for Asustek to make an official announcement. And we’re betting on it, that Asustek will announce it in the coming days. Here’s the photo of the Eee PC 903 courtesy of eeepcnews.de

Asustek is reportedly planning to come up with another variants of the Eee PC 900 and 901 - the Eee PC 904 and 905. The two models will be a hybrid of the 900/901 and the 1000 Eee PCs. Meaning, they will have the 8.9-inch panel but with the chassis and keyboard of the Eee PC 1000.
According to a Digitimes report, the Eee PC 904 and 905 will also have the Atom processors. As for its battery and storage capacity, Asustek is yet to come out with a decision.
Relatedly, Asustek is also planning to release the two new Eee PC models at a similar price range as the 900 and 901, which will lead them to eventually replace the 900/901 or perhaps leave them in the market to compete with the Acer Aspire One.
Are you ready for an Eee PC with a larger keyboards? Frankly, I don’t mind the current keyboards of the Eee PC models. At first it’s hard to use, but eventually you’ll get use to it.

Register Hardware is reporting that the new Eee PC 901 will start hitting markets in the UK on July 1. And surprisingly despite being touted as a better model than the Eee PC 900, the Eee PC 901 will retail $20 less than the introductory price of the 900, that is around $620 (£319). The Eee PC 900 retailed for around $640 when it was released in April.
If you would recall the Eee PC 901 have better specs than the Eee PC 900. Aside from the Atom processor, it will also have a much sought Bluetooth connectivity feature and a better 6600mAh battery. So, if you will ask us how come the Eee PC 901 would be cheaper than the Eee PC 900, I guess we all have to credit the threat of competitors to the Eee PC product line (MSI, Acer and Dell).
And of course, the Eee PC 901 that will arrive on July 1 in UK stores will be available in shiny white or glossy black.

ASUS has responded to the user complains that British Eee PC 900 comes with 4400mAh battery while North American Eee PC 900 were shipping with 5800mAh batteries, same as in the original Eee PC 701 4G.
As company stated Asus has special deal with different markets. In EU countries, Eee PC 900 ships with 4400mAh batteries but you will get a two-year warranty within the country you bought the Eee 900.
Practically the same situation as with a trade-off buying the Windows XP powered Eee PC 900, pay for the Microsoft OS and get less storage capacity, 12GB instead the 20GB found in the Linux version. A
nd question remains will European buyers would likely have stronger battery than two year warranty?

Trusted Reviews has confirmed that UK consumers are getting the low-performing 4800mAh in their Eee PC 900, instead of the better 5200mAH which US consumers got from their Eec PC units. TR also reported that an Asustek spokeswoman said that:
“Asus offers different solutions in different markets. In EU countries, we use 4400mAh [with the] Eee 900. However, we give a two-year warranty within the country you bought the Eee 900.”
Sounds like a fair deal, right? Wait, actually it is not. TR and its readers (via comments) said that by UK standards all eletronic products and accessories shall come with the 2-year warranty period. So, Asustek should not use it as a defense against consumers asking why they will be getting a different product accesory as some other countries.
Actually, when I spoke to an Asustek representative during the launch of the Eee PC 900 in Manila, he said that they are also releasing the Eee PC 900 with the 4400mAH battery.
This would definitely annoy UK consumers. Hopefully, Asustek could come up with a better reason other than what was said by the spokeswoman asked by TR.
Would UK consumers drive too much force to make Asustek replace the 4400mAH battery as what they did with Hong Kong buyers? That we will have to see as more UK consumers get disappointed with what battery they will get with their Eee PC 900.
