Although Microsoft has no plans of releasing their new OS Windows 7 until 2010, Asustek’s CEO Jerry Shen is confident that they would be able to release a new Eee PC with the said new OS. And since Windows 7 would have touchscreen features, Asustek is excited to take advantage of this touchscreen interface.

However Jerry Shen also said that if the Eee PC will have the touchscreen features it might however come out thicker than the usual models of the Eee PC.

On the other things that Asustek plans to do with its Eee PC product line, Mr. Shen also said the his company is mulling on coming out with an Eee PC model that would take a tablet PC form factors.

Lastly, Asustek has no plans of putting Windows Vista on any of the Eee PCs that they plan to release in the future. The company will be sticking with both Linux and XP, then later on with Windows 7 as their Eee PC’s OS.

Asus is prepping up the worldwide launch of its premiere Eee PC product, S101. The Eee PC S101 now has its own product page, and a very classy product page at that. The Eee PC S101 product site has video materials about the S101, photo gallery, product information and of course the S101’s product specs.

Notable feature of the product site is the interactive product launch schedule of the Eee PC S101.

Quiet honestly, the official product page for the S101 is pretty impressive and we got to give it to Asustek for coming up with such a nice and professionally looking product site. Hopefully, this product site would help propel the sales of the Eee PC S101.

JkOnTheRun received a tip from Pereira about a netbook retailing at under $300 and it isn’t the touchscreen Asus Eee PC, due to come out next year, either.

The model on offer is the Asus Eee PC 900A which is set to retail for $299 at Best Buy stores. That’s a great reduction off the original launch price of $465 in August.

However, with just a 4GB SSD, it could be worth waiting to see if the Eee PC 701SDX will come fitted with a 4GB or 8GB for the same $300 price tag before making a purchase. If you can’t wait for news on the 701SDX though and you’re looking for a cheap netbook, it seems most stores have them in stock, for now.

The netbook that created netbooks and which spawned a huge market for netbooks worldwide - the Asus Eee PC, is one year old today.

October 16th 2007 saw the arrival of the first Eee PC and since then the brand has soared in sales and become the ‘role model’ for a plethora of netbooks from different manufacturers and a plethora of different models of the Eee PC from ASUS too.

The Eee PC is only a year old but it is still the oldest netbook on the block and with the number of different models of Eee PC that ASUS are producing, there is still a lot of life in the old/young netbook yet!

Happy Birthday Eee PC!!

Here comes probably another variant of the original Eee PC - the Eee PC 701SDX. Our friends over at Eee PC News got some picture of the new Eee PC model and reported that said netbook would come with a $300 price tag. Now, if the Eee PC 701SDX would come with a storage of not less than 4GB SSD, then it would definitely be a cheaper version of the Eee PC 700 4G. The Eee PC 4G retails for around $350 at Amazon right now.

The Eee PC 701SDX might also come without the webcam and the OS will most probably be a Linux version rather than Windows XP because of its price tag.

But the most important question would be is whether the Eee PC 701SDX would still have the Celeron CPU or the newer Intel Atom processor used by the current crop of netbooks.

No words yet on when this Eee PC 701SDX would be available. But it will come in the standard black and white color design as well as a more feminine Pink.

There’s certainly no doubt now about the popularity of the Eee PC. With so many models around the market, someone even wrote a book detailing the what and how’s of the said netbook.

This is of course the first book that speaks about the Eee PC and gives instructions on turning it on, connecting it to the Internet, upgrading the machine, updating and to simply put, getting the most out of the Eee PC.

The book Using the Eee PC was written by Bill Lawrence, a writer, illustrator, graphic designer and web designer. It is curerntly available now at the cost of $24.99 at major US retailers.

And to celebrate the launch of this book, Que Publishing is sponsoring a contest open to U.S. residents age 18 or older. None other than the 4G Eee PC is at state in this contests.
